Contacting Gov. Arnold about the execution?
self

Posted on 12/06/2005 11:33:23 PM PST by L.A.Justice

Have you contacted Gov. Arnold's office about the clemency for Tookie Williams?

Last week, I mailed a letter to his Sacramento office, urging him to deny clemency...

The media is trying to create the impression that there is a big public support for granting clemency...

Gov. Arnold should hear from citizens who want the execution to take place...

sent an email to Arnold's office. The media outlets here in the Sacramento area are giving quite a lot of air to Williams. Deny clemency Arnold.

Good job. I think he needs to hear from everyone. I sent mine yesterday and got back a response. I know it was canned but they are counting the number of pro and con for clemency emails.

I asked the Gov to respect the appeals court decisions, and remember the relatives of the four murdered victims.

I suspect a great many folks today don't remember the Watts riots (too young) but they do remember the L.A. riots.

I don't expect rioting to take place unless it's to lynch Arnold for granting clemency. There might be a small surge in gang violence but I cannot see the black communities in general getting fired up over the execution of a murderous man indirectly responsible for murdering thousands of their sons, fathers and brothers in street wars over the past 30+ years.

Do you think we should send an e-mail if we are out of state?

I signed the petition to save Tookie with the name "Old Sparky". My comments on that petition became my tag line!

I sent my email to the Governor and this is the response I received December 5th. I sent it to the following address:
governor@governor.ca/gov .

Thank you for your correspondence regarding Stanley Williams.

There is a court order currently in place that calls for Mr. Williams to be executed by the State of California on December 13, 2005, and Mr. Williams has, through his attorneys, expressed his desire for the Governor to grant him clemency in this matter.

Capital punishment is an issue about which many people hold strong and impassioned views, and Governor Schwarzenegger appreciates you taking the time to express yours with regard to Mr. Williams.  Your correspondence will be given due consideration during the clemency process.

Thank you again for writing.

Sincerely,

ANDREA LYNN HOCH
Legal Affairs Secretary

And do ask him what he intends to do regarding the libs he appointed. Could lower blood pressure and panic significantly.

Yes. This has taken on a National and to some extent an International signifigance. Remember, Tookie has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize five times and for the Nobel Prize for Literature four times. This is outrageous.

The western regional director of the NAACP, Jamal Watkins, three days ago compared Tookie Williams to the biblical Moses. This is absurd.

It is time to remember the real victims, the Owens and Yangs and all other peace loving people.

Yes, by all means contact the Governor and express your views. Go visit the site:
