Look at who's behind this ridiculous bill: all Dems from the eastern part of the state.
Is anyone surprised?
This is as racist a gun law as the Louisiana Black Code. $250,000 insurance? Does that include Off-Duty policemen or Policemen who are watching Holes being dug?

How is it racist? I mean, it doesn't say that only one race has to have insurance.
Here's a what-if for you: What if one of your guns is stolen, and subsequently used in a felony. Say someone is shot with it. Will the insurance you purchased for your weapon be expected to pay the damages?
I dunno, man. I just don't understand this bill. Are people who are already lawful gun owners tied to gun violence so much more often than street scum that the lawful owners have to be insured...?
the idea is to get rid of concealed carry. after all, unless its due to negligence (like i leave my weapon in a public bathroom) why should i have to cover damages for a weapon of mine that was stolen? that would be along the same lines of suing the company for making the product. i wouldn't be the one who did the damage, so i shouldn't be held responsible.
I don't know that they are limiting themselves to abolishing concealed carry. There's no reason, inasmuch as any of this is based on reasoning at all, that this bill's language could not apply to all firearms.
And did you notice that there proposal of having a member of GOAL sit on the board that would oversee this system?
I would hope GOAL would fight this legislation like animals.
1) Most of the low-income folks in Massachusetts are Hispanic or Black.
2) If you're low-income (Hispanic or Black) you probably can't afford the additional insurance policy, which will be exceedingly high, because you probably live in a poor neighborhood, where crime is a problem.
Therefore, if you're Hispanic or Black you'll be hurt by this bill while rich White folk will not. It's racist.

I hear you. It is a backhanded (read this as sleazy) way for the Dems to take guns from the hands of the poor and minorities without actually saying that they are doing so.
They will probably pass this on Christmas Eve, when nobody is looking.

Maybe in that way the current poplicies are already racist. As you probably know, in MA the issuing authoirty for LTC is the local PD. And the most urban areas of the state, which is also where the largest non-white populations live, are the least likely to issue Class A licenses.
GO out into the rural areas, and it's no sweat assuming you've jumped all the other hoops and the checks clear. My wife's not even a citizen and she got hers in 2 weeks.

actually, its not that bad. someone on another site told me that he has some NRA sponsored $250k liability insurance policy that costs him $254/ year.
