California Republicans are in open revolt against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger over his hiring of a Democratic operative as his new chief of staff.

And one leading state GOP official is touting actor Mel Gibson as a possible Republican primary challenger to Schwarzenegger.

Officials with the California Republican Party are said to be furious with Schwarzenegger and have demanded a private meeting with the governor to complain about his appointment of Susan P. Kennedy, who was a Cabinet secretary during the administration of Gov. Gray Davis.

Schwarzenegger was elected governor after an extraordinary effort succeeded to recall Davis in 2003.

As an out-of-state observer of the McClintock/Schwartzenegger election brawl, I'm curious as to the reaction of our California FReepers to this news.

Those of you who supported Arnold, what say you?

Those of you who supported McClintock, what say you?

The donation spigut has been turned off in my household. Circle of friends feel same. Not like anyone cares though. Burn me twice shame on me.

Do they really think Mel is going to run for Gov? I seriously doubt it. If you think the moonbats hated Arnold what scorn would they have for Mr. passion of Christ? They'd probably crucify him.

Gibson has WAAAAAAAY to many skeletons in his closet to run for governor.

1) Major skirt chaser who's cheated on his wife too many times to count.
2) Has been in and out of Betty Ford for cocaine a few times as well.

No, I just remembered back during the recall election how his supporters were telling us that he was the best guy for the job and was curious if they still felt that way.

WHAT ? I've never heard any of that alleged of Mel. As for #1, Ah-nold has already outdone anyone (save WJC himself) on that subject.

No more actors, please.

The GOP needs to go somewhere other than Hollywood's Central Casting.

I'm sure Mel Gibson is a fine person, but I don't think he is what we need at this point. I doubt that he'll run. And if he did run, I can't envision him taking Arnold out in the primary. Personally, I'd like to see McClintock challenge Arnold, but I guess he has his heart set on being Lt. Gov.

Wouldn't that qualify him to run Democrat? It would probably get him elected if he ran on that as his platform.

Remember that we live in a post Bill Clinton era, the bar is a whole lot lower than it used to be.

What possibly escapes Arnold:

Davis fought off the radical Dems for all but the last year, i.e. he wasn't that radical.

Davis got recalled because he started caving to the extreme Dem demands (eg. car tax & illegal's licenses)
(the putz even thought he had a chance @ 2004 Presidential race.)

Now Arnie's trying some smoke-n-mirrors.

Nobody's fooled.
The Dems won't work w/ you & the GOP's wondering what yer somkin'

Ooops. Forgot about that guy. LOL.

I doubt that is a Ronald Reagan in today's Hollywood, though. Mel Gibson sure ain't it.

Nothing wrong with actors in politics. Nothing wrong with bail bondsmen in politics. Nothing wrong with garbagemen in politics. It's not what they do, it's the individual themself.
