UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Thursday called for the "immediate and unconditional" release of all Iraqi and foreign hostages taken by Iraqi militants.
Annan "calls for their immediate, safe and unconditional release, and strongly reiterates his appeal to all sides to respect at all times the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law," his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
Annan's comments came as an Internet statement by The Islamic Army in Iraq claimed it had killed a US hostage named Ronald Schulz, who was a contractor.
The Islamic Army said it killed Schulz because US President George W. Bush refused to meet its demands that all prisoners in Iraq be released.

Yeah, this'll work. Not.
....and the fierce Annan, defender of liberty and icon of purity, bares his angry fangs. /sarcasm
".... Annan on Thursday called for the "immediate and unconditional" release of all Iraqi and foreign hostages taken by Iraqi militants."
Right......for whom the (oil for food) bell tolls!
I can hear islamics laughing from here.....
No, I take that back. The man is so ignorant he's becoming dangerous.

Or Kofi'll sic the Muppets on 'em.
These are not empty words. When he speaks, his words are backed up by the military might, the indomitable will, and the clear moral focus of the entire United Nations.
or what... you'll stamp your little hoof and hold yer breath??? please
And....if they aren't released.....YOU'LL QUIT???? BAAAWWWAAAAHHHHHHHH .......we wish.
If they get turned loose now because of Annan's demand we will know the whole thing was a set-up.
One of two things , either the Iraqui terrorists are LTAO or this whole thing was a set-up.
Is Kofi going to jump up and down and stamp his feet till he gets his way?
ooooooooooooooo.... I bet they're shaking in their boots now!
LOL
he is probably trying to get a cut of the ransom money....
lol... Ya, you tell em Tofu...

And Kookie will see that all oil for food money will be returned to Iraq people immediately.
Annan, eh? Who cares.
I think that he should say "Release them, or else I will send twice as many to you. The more peaceniks you kill, the more I will send.
To the last peacenik!
The only reason I do not come right out and say, 'I hope the peaceniks get whacked', is the possibilty they(the left) could use it against the right/war. That is the only reason. In any event, I got my bag of micro-wave popcorn ready to go!!
"Kookie, Kookie, lend me your comb..."
Kofi Annan...<<-- Eddie Murphy laugh...
BTW...it's thursday...have any of the radical rags made any statements today? It is supposed to be the end of their deadline....
Kofi=falling tree
UN=empty forest
Hostages still hostages.
I guess this answers THAT old riddle.
What a fool. Maybe he can fly to Iraq and give them all paper cuts.
Yes! I did! I LOVE IT! 'Bout time!
I have been sitting here listening to Drudge (24/7 member and missed it today) while serfing all the stories on Freep.... happen to see your post! LOL!
LOL!
Not Drudge- listening to Rush.... had that story you linked to on my mind... OY!
I either need another beer, or some sleep......
hmmmmm... decisions, decisions...
headed to fridge, brb...
LOL! You and TOL have the BEST pics!
You all may already know this but this excerpt from an emailed prayer request about US hostage named Ronald Schulz:
" Ron Schultz is being held hostage by Islamofascists in Iraq. His family appealed to me for prayer and hence this report.
Ron is from the heartland of America, my neck of the woods, the Upper Midwest. He is forty years old. He is a son and a brother but has never married. He is not a part of the "peace hostages" who actually have a sentiment that sides with the enemy as does most of the Left. Ron is a former Marine and he is a Christian. His family supports this ministry and I am appealing to you to pray for Ron Schultz. If you haven't heard the shaking voice of a family member under these circumstances, you haven't heard real terror. And yet they are clinging to the Hand of the Lord. Their home church in North Dakota is having a prayer vigil. But hostages, short of a miracle, face a questionable future."
I'm re-listening to yesterday's show. I figured Drudge didn't have a 24/7!
Hellloooooo? Kofi?
Are you there?
Sorry to tell you this, kid, but you already had your chance at relevance.
And you blew it.
Now sit back down at the kid's table. The adults have things to do here.
Hey, that'll get him a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
Since it is a fact that we gain nothing from being in the UN, and given that the UN is a sponge that soaks up US taxpayer dollars, and given that the UN is made up of mostly anti-American nations . . .
why doesn't George Bush get out of the UN?
Why are Americans so passive and apathetic about us making no effort to get out of the UN?
It seems we need a dictator to take over America. Is that the only way we will ever do what is in the best interest of the USA? It is clear that the Office of President and Congress will never do what is in the best interest of the USA, but prefer to make other nations stronger while America is weakened.
Just get out of the damn UN!
uh ..Kofi ... you seem to be forgetting that the Islamic terrorists believe they have been upholding the only legitimate international law there has ever been.
This is interesting... Jim Wallis' Sojourners is only concerned about four antiwar peace workers that were kidnapped, look:
http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=news.display_article&mode=P&NewsID=5066
"Sojourners Calls for Immediate Release of Christian Peacemaker Teams Members
Washington, D.C.---- (Friday, December 2, 2005) Sojourners is alarmed and saddened by the kidnapping of four Christian Peacemaker Teams members - Harmeet Sooden, Jim Loney, Norman Kember, and Tom Fox - in Baghdad on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005. We are afraid for their lives and pray for their speedy release. "
That has to be the funniest thing I have heard in a long time! :-)
