RUMSFELD STUFFS OBSESSIVE RECITING OF POLL NUMBERS BY THE MSM IN THE FACE OF A LEADING NEWS ANCHOR
12/08/05 | MikeA

Posted on 12/08/2005 7:29:40 PM PST by MikeA

Donald Rumsfeld was asked by Jim Lehrer on the News Hour on PBS just now if his low poll numbers bothered him. This was after one tiresome question after another about how the polls prove Americans hate Bush, the war in Iraq and everything else Republican-related. Rumsfeld came up with the best, in-your-face reply: "If you look where the news media is, it's down very low in the polls. If you want to get into public opinion polls, people in that business are right down near the bottom. You know that. Does it bother you?" Lehrer looked embarrassed and could only respond "I ask the questions here."

That's why I love Rumsfeld! He's not afraid to stuff it right back in the hideous faces of the media pukes unlike the rest of the administration that just plays so prissy and fearful with the leftist media.

I really like this guy. (Not in a Brokeback Mountain kind of way.)

I hope you don't like pudding. LOL

I really like and respect Rumsfeld too. He knows how to stick it to the media fools.

This administration is on the offensive. Look at the various stories being posted. I think we are seeing the beginning of the campaign.

The Democrats (and main stream media) is so used to the Republicans in general and this administration in particular just roll over, they do not know how to respond.

I am looking forward to more of this in your face responses.

This is probably why Bill Kristol doesn't like Rummy. Kristol was on Fox this morning spewing his "time for Rummy to resign" mantra.

And .. after hearing what Kristol had to say .. I'm wondering if it was Kristol who started the rumor .. just so Kristol could comment on it.

THAT is it!!! Kristol has to be the "White House" source that says that Bush is mad at Rummy and wants to replace him...

I just CANNOT even imagine that scenario...but, I can believe that Kristol would make it up!

Rummy better be careful - those poll numbers indicate that he might not be re-elected.

I saw it...on PBS local channel 9 in SF Bay Area.

Rumsfeld did not back off from that communist bast**d Lehrer.

Lehrer means teacher in German. I do not know if it is Jewish. I suspect so.

In this case, the teacher was taught a lesson, both in civics and in manners.

Lehrer is a moderate Republican, he ran for office once.

I beg to differ. I read Lehrer's autobiography about 15 years ago. His politics are akin to the old great society Texas LBJ democrats and he drifts farther to the left every year.

The McNeil Lehrer New Hours took a hard left turn after McNeil retired. After a few months of the Lehrer News Hour, I turned the TV off. May Allah praise the Freerepublic.

Why is the rest of the administration just not this sharp in coming up with the appropriate, unrehearsed answers to the MSM's incessant carping?

Because of intelligence and toughness. If you have those qualities, you are sharp; if you do not have both of those qualities, you are not sharp and are, therefore, defined by others.

Lehrer: "What is this?"

Kristol is not a White House source. The Daily News[NYC] had the story. I think that reporter made up the story. The whole point of it was to smear Lieberman [to the leftist scum in Connecticut] and thus make his re-election more problematical. It is a reflection of the democrat rats being pissed off over the Senator's remarks coming back from Iraq, and the usual anti-Rumsfeld pansies.

Look at the people who dont like Rumsfeld and you wil have an index of all the people who are dangerous for the country. If that includes McCain and Kristol, than so be it.

Rumsfeld is the opposite of the person who fails to truly know himself and thus is prey for the feminization machine. Intelligence and toughness is the combination that is missing and results in feminization. Kristol is not tough and he has an visceral reaction to Rumsfeld because of that. McCain is a more complicated story. I would never say he was not tough, but he is much more towards pandering to the press types and the left, and that is probably due to an intelligence and morality deficit. Witness his campaign-finance bill, his fear of the "Nuclear Option" and his undermining of conservatives.

That is a good question. However, Rumsfeld is a very smart guy. But more than that he is a very practical, reasonable man with just the perfect touch of common sense. He also is 70 plus years old and just does not give a schit about being politically correct and it works to his advantage.

I always love his press conferences. He always has his facts and figures and he knows what he wants to say and controls the discussion. He is initially very patient with the incessant whiny questions. But then he reaches his limit and the next stupid question he gets he stops, gives the reporter this scrunched up look, as if to say WTF is wrong with you, and then he just slams him/her with an obvious answer. He does it all the time. And then he smiles. I love it.

Hey, the other people in the administration should take notes. Remember when he told the press France and Germany were old Europe. I thought I was going to have an aneurysm.
