"I've already heard there are quotes of Bush saying that the Iraq war is not winnable...."

If that's how they are going to defend their comments than it really illustrates the hole they are in----and it is even deeper than I thought. Are they seriously going to suggest that Bush has been anything but positive and steadfast? Are they going to stand by their comments using the 'evidence' that Bush has said the same thing? This is simply not feasible and if this is the road that they take......yikes.

They're in big trouble. Rocks, hard-places, etc.

I remember that before the election, Pres. Bush said this war on terror won't be "won in the traditional sense," that is, with the opposing generals meeting and the loser handing over his sword. The dems of course had a screaming orgasm (can I say that?) about this, and Pres. Bush went on Rush's show to clarify his remarks - that he meant there won't be a traditional "sign a treaty" victory - and the whole thing died down.

Not the Iraq war but the war on terror. He said this in the context of an answer to a question asking WHEN we would win the war on terror. His answer was it is not winnable in any certain time frame.
