I stand corrected. FNC just reported that a neighboring town had 14 inches. So maybe we had a foot. Measurements of how much snow fell into my boots when I collected the mail are inexact :-)

At least the entertainment value was free.

Our neighbor lives on a hill. I saw a German shepard race out from behind his house and gallop down the hill, alternately sledding (is this the original meaning of dog sleds? LOL! He raced down into the street to chase a car.

I suspect he was following his owner who lives behind the neighbor.

I wished that I had video, because it was really funny. And the dog was having a great time.

Put the report on a diskette, claim it was stolen (or something); and publish it offshore on to the internet.

Problem solved.

As Tony Snow says, "this stinks".
Call/write/fax/yell at your Senators/Representatives now to get Mr. Barrett's report made public.
We paid for it - and I'm sure it was another multi-million dollar affair - and we damn sure deserve to see it.

See Ditto's post (20) and I think you'll find the answer.

Do you ever get the impression that most of the players in DC use this kind of stuff like a power/chess game and we're all the suckers sitting on the sidelines hoping someone will step up and checkmate them?

"Bear" says how do we expect this report to see the light of day when we can't even create any traction on Able Danger?

He has a point. Dammit.

I wrote my Senator (Senator Brownback). Quick simple note:

Publish the Barrett Report. We (taxpayers) paid for it. Not publishing the Barrett Report is an injustice.

I'll write my senator. He should do something about this, seeing that he IS the majority leader.

Scandal at Justice and IRS?

The Evans-Novak Political Report includes an item I've heard nothing about:

Democrats have their own scandal brewing at the moment, but they are doing much better in covering it up than their Republican counterparts. At issue is the report by David Barrett, the last remaining U.S. independent counsel. Over ten years, Barrett has spent $21 million on the investigation of former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros, who lied to FBI investigators about hush money paid to an ex-mistress.
The reason the report and the investigation have taken so long is that allies to Cisneros and the legal team of former President Bill Clinton at the powerhouse Washington law firm of Williams and Connolly have fought its progress in court at every step. Meanwhile, Clinton-sympathetic judges have sealed everything concerned with the case, including Barrett's report.

The report contains shocking allegations of high-level corruption in the Internal Revenue Service and Justice Department under Clinton, which Barrett found as Clinton aides monitored his investigation and sought to derail it in order to cover up the Cisneros matter. A regional IRS official had formulated a new rule enabling him to transfer an investigation of Cisneros to Washington to be buried by the Justice Department. Barrett's investigators found Lee Radek, head of Justice's public integrity division, determined to protect President Bill Clinton.

A recently passed appropriations bill, intended to permit release of this report, was altered by Democrats behind closed doors to ensure that its politically combustible elements never see the light of day. Democrats succeeded in inserting instructions into the bill's conference report that are very broad and will allow judges to continue suppressing the report. Three of the toughest Democrats in Congress -- Sen. Carl Levin, Sen. Byron Dorgan and Rep. Henry Waxman -- have been behind the effort to suppress, and they have done it effectively.

It's remarkable what the Democrats can accomplish despite being in the minority. One can only imagine what they got away with when they were the majority.

The report is out there. If it was requested in FULL by dems on the SJC then copies were made available to those it would inflict most harm. Correct? Lawyers may even have it. Connoly and such. Just a matter of time before some whistle blower or college intern(b'crat in training) gets fed up and pops off an email with a HUGE attachment.

"All of this should have hit the fan five years ago with real Justice Dept. investigations of Chinagate, Pardongate, FBIgate, etc.gate, etc.gate, etc.gate."

Agreed TGJ. The same reason we plea bargained Sandy Berger, brushed Able Danger under the rug, and on and on and on.
I cannot for the life of me understand why it looks like we are simpatico with the Party of Defeat. Baffling.

Not really...how else can they ensure Hillary a win in '08 without hiding all the Klinton malfeasance, and undercutting the Conservative Base and floating support for McStain...thereby making sure Conservatives stay home/vote 3rd party?

Remember GHWB's "loss" in 92...the man went from a 90% approval arting to losing by deliberately running the worst campaign since Bob Dole's!

These two spineless cowards, Bill Frist and Denny Hastert, you expect anything from them? They haven't the guts to join and get the report released to the public. Damn, these spineless Republicans. Getting real tired.
