This is just more of the "Gore won" type of thinking. They will believe anything that supports their deceived mind.

He really said that? What a moron. Pravda editors had nothing on this puke.

Yep.. I was watching it at about 3 in the morning when he said it and I wanted to throw something at the TV.

We didn't have Fox yet, so I was forced to watch NBC.

"Blogs are a wonderful addition to the media culture but the public should stop assuming that what they read on the Internet is more accurate than what they read in the mainstream media, because the reverse is usually the case...

Not only Mapes, Rather and Alter. Remember the Katrina lies on CNN, Newsweek lies on the flushing of the Koran, Jonathan Blair... I could go on and on (a whole chapter the brain dead Keith Olberman) but my guess is that most people have caught on. Witness the declining circulation of the NY Times and LA Times not to mention the abandonment of CNN by formerly loyal viewers. Alter can not defend the indefensible and now is saying that only the "smart" people trust the MSM. Yeah- just like the Emperors new clothes.

Buckhead is an internet hero. Alter is an apologist for a discredited MSM. Buckhead posted a vanity here not long ago explaining how he was able to so quickly determine the memos were fake. Too bad Alter didn't ask Buckhead any questions before he published this apologia for the MSM.

I heard the guards at Club Gitmo were flushing copies of Alter's Newsweek column down the toilet to humiliate the poor terrorists.

That statement of his shows that he still doesn't have a clue! What has Alter and the MSM upset is that, unlike in the past, their assertions can now be fact-checked. Their real regret is that their MSM monopoly of the past is gone forever. Good riddance!

Thanks for the correction to Jonathan Alter. Today's MSM is not going to recover from this internet thing. ;-)

Bless his heart. Imagine what it must be like to work for the same publication as Eleanor Clift. I'm guessing the water coolers are filled with koolaide.

No, he lost his hair rug to chemo. Cancer/chemo was a convenient excuse for the windbag to stop wearing his 'toup.

I love it! The MSM puts so much time and effort to construct a lie, and it gets debunked in minutes on the internet! A big tip 'o the hat to Buckhead and TankerKC.

"the public should stop assuming that what they read on the Internet is more accurate than what they read in the mainstream media, because the reverse is usually the case"

Alter does have a point. You need to scrutinize what you read on the internet. Look at the top of the page, if it says moveon.org after the www part, then you are reading Barbra Streisand.

Mapes aside, it is simply astounding to me that anybody in the MSM would choose to defend Mapes/Rather/CBS on the TANG report.

If they choose to defend Mapes' account, it only further diminishes their credibility.

According to his biography, Alter has been writing for the print medium for at least 25 years. That he is still unable to recognize the differences between typwritten and typeset material suggests that he is either a.) terminally dense or b.) a bald-faced liar.

I'm betting on c.) Both...

The MSM should come with a laugh track.

I bet if rush played the Network news with a laugh track it would go over very very well.

After the 2000 election, Jonathan Alter said:

"If it turns out that Al Gore wins the popular vote nationally, there will be intense pressure in this country to have him become the President. Most people think the guy with the most votes wins..."

You just have to let that sit there for a minute...

The 'net has them all jealous and bitter inside. They wish we would read their propaganda.

They're even stupid enough to try to just talk us out of it.. LOL.
