threats of civil unrest have prompted the council members and representatives from the city and county human relations commissions to ask religious leaders to emphasize a message of peace during weekend services. They are worried that Christians are going to rampage up and down the boulevard burning down the city if a gangster is executed.
In the words of the philosopher, are they are crack?

I forgot they have violence on their side!
But not the temperature.....the tradition in South Central is to hit the streets only during warmer weather.

I would state my objections to his clemency by posting links to outside news and crime scene photos regarding Tookie and his poor victims, but apparently the FR moderators that be have decided that no such criticism or even links to such news shall be allowed here. - Much like the DU.
All of us Freepers are free to talk, but do not show facts here.
Unless you support Tookie, that is.

The black community of LA should be ashamed of itself. At least open anarchy has a raw honesty driving its goals and ambitions.
I'm not really sure what you might call a situation where a community has laws on the books and elected leaders, but the leaders have to beg the led to obey the law prior to enforcing it.

A subtle way of telling folks a riot could reap a financial windfall about now, and here's your reason.

If the execution is to go forward, Arnald should just make the simple statment, "if there are any problems, the police have been givin the shoot to kill order." Not that there is a chance in hell that it will happen though.

Oh, no you don't. We just got rid of a bunch of our trash with the National Guard wasting looters and gang members. If you send them, you also send the New Orleans FReepers a few crates of bullets. And a bunch of body bags.

I predicted a riot over this two weeks ago when Snoop Dog was out inciting the masses.
To: Salvey
Yep. Hint, hint, wink, wink, let's not have no trouble now.Exactly. The city mucky-mucks bring up the spectre of violence, everyone goes downtown to see the spectacle, someone tosses a spark, and voila--one riot, made to order.

Just abother excuse to riot. You would be surprised how many people will be dissappointed if they dont get this opportunity. They dont care about Tookie any more than the rioters cared about Dr. Martin Luther King. Its just another excuse to loot.

Their new ACLU, couldn't pass the bar, Mayor is going to put the final nail in the coffin of the once-great city of Los Angeles.

Fred Barnes said that Tookie only sold 350 books, had refused to cooperate with authorities in naming any name that would help in breaking up the gangs and why should actors' opinions carry more weight than the victims family. I can't remember what else he said but the newspaper stories are so one sided.
