What part of my being a Christian of Jewish descent, who played with a driedle and celebrated both Hanukkah and Christmas just like hundreds of thousands of other immigrant families did you not understand?

Celebrating Christmas doesn't make you a Christian. Playing with a dreidl doesn't make you a Jew. Playing with a stethoscope doesn't make you a doctor. Accepting the creed of whatever faith is what makes you one or the other. If you don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah you are not Christian. If you do, you are not Jewish.

Your post at #172.............

Oh...okay...it started with this:

I wish Jim the best wishes...always...and he knows that. But I think he also owes us a tremendous amount of thanks and good wishes for keeping him in grand style while he tends to this website. Remember, we support this website...and quite generously too, I might add.

Then this:

I've been very naive about FreeRepublic. Last week, there was a White Supremist rally down the street from where I live. When I drove by, I rolled down my window and asked the man holding a sign reading "LOVE YOUR RACE"...If you love your race, what race do you hate? Do you hate blacks? He said "not necessarily." I said..Do you hate Jews....he said. YES. I'm beginning to wake up. It's taken me a long time because I didn't want to see it.

I don't like folks who tear Free Republic down.

You needed to state the glaringly obvious for what reason? I'm talking about the history of my family and the families of many others as they made the transition to Christiandom after fleeing Hitler and/or Stalin. What I state is so factual it's an axiom. What YOU are trying to say is incomprehensible to me. There ARE Christian Jews today, just as there where when CHRIST WAS ALIVE. IT HAPPENS. GET OVER IT. It that's NOT what you were trying yo sday, kindly disregard this post. Either way, I'm going to bed.

Anti-semite? How the hell do you get that from my comment. I merely told you to stop bitching and moaning about Christians, of which I am not one. You are the anti, you are anti Christian and it shows plainly, telling people to stop asking where they can buy Chistmas wrap that actually show Chistian scenes, my, my what a bunch of terrible people. I am the last person on Earth who would be against Jews.

You think because I pointed out that the people on FR are FOR Jews that somehow makes me anti-semite? Your reasoning escapes me. As I said, stop complaining about your terrible plight as a Jew and get on with your life!

You want anit-semite? Go to Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, or so called Palistine and you will find real anti-semites.

Gah fixing what I said. . .

"Being Jewish, while not a race, is also not about accepting Jesus. It's a tribe, a culture. . . "

I was trying to say that being Jewish, while not being a race, is also not just a religion.

Brain was on too many tracks LOL

My local WalMart doesn't have a manger as small as I want.......

I have enough bamboo and scrap lumber laying around I may very well go ahead and build one myself.....if I can find the time in between other obligations and cooking.........sounds like a good project for after the New Year.......For right now I will be happy with it on the shelf in the window passage between the family room and the living room.

Are you saying that if one believes in Jesus, they cannot be Jewish?...I always thought that there was a group that called themselves something like 'Jewish for Jesus'...I always thought of those who called themselves Jewish, saw being Jewish as a culture, a way of life, sharing a common heritge with other Jewish people, and not necessarily just a religion...I dont know those many Jewish people, but the ones that I did know, felt this way...I just feel that it would be wrong for me to make any suppositions about those who are Jewish, so perhaps someone who is Jewish could enlighten me, as to whether what I have said is wrong, or right, or somewhere in the middle...

I've never been on a thread that went as indecipherably off course as this one has :~D

And it doesn't seem to have a thing to do with the guy who didn't want any Santas, holly or snowflakes on his wrappin' paper :~D

As I said.........I was not keeping up with the argument and I don't know either of you.........had you just said it in a post I wouldn't have paid a bit of attention to you, but you made a point of making it be a standout type post that really can't be ignored.

That is what I consider to be mean.

This one is about a foot high. They had a smaller one but I didn't need the figurines. I have my own. I'm missing the baby though. I need to find it or buy another because I'm sure not cooking one:')

I'm just amazed at all the people that showed up to find wrapping paper, though.

The Japanese are big on wrapping cloths. People give gifts in the cloths, which are then another gift in themselves. I like the idea of gift bags made from Christmas fabric. The recipient could then re-use that bag for a gift for someone else. Sure would save on trash.

I agree........this is downright weird.

As someone pointed out, and I concurred, I had no problem finding non-secular, non-commericalized wrapping paper at the local Dollar General store. Angels, mangers, stars, etc abounded .......

It's late, I think I need to call it a night.
