Posted on 12/11/2005 7:33:28 PM PST by eleni121
Please click the following link and send an email to the Mayor of Rome protesting the erection of a mass murderer Mustafa kemal Ataturk.
Here is the link:
PING for action.
Here's an erection stopper.
The header of this post nearly knocked me off of my chair.
Ol' Helen---LOL for sure. I knew someone would post an analogy...glad it was you.
Please sign the petition.
Mass murderers should not have erections?
If this was a sex offender (like rapist), I can see your point.
However, I don't see a problem with mass murderers getting erections.
In Chicago the public bureau in charge of putting up statutes is the Department of Erections and Mounting.
Or so goes the legend.
" protesting the erection" - bad choice of words :-)
It's funny how some people think ;>)
Seriously, sign the petition...it's not a laughing matter.
LOL! You took the words right out of my mouth! I hate it when statues get an .....
I actually knew a guy,a customer, who's businees cards identified him as an erection specialist.
Well, I protest, but how the hell ya gonna stop it?
I mean, nature taking it's natural course and all that...
Erection of statue. The term "erection" of statue is a commonly used phrase as you well know.
Whatever. Just sign the petition ;>))
My grandfather was a full blooded Armenian whose mother had to flee. That makes me a quarter Armenian.
It is past history. I am guessing they are erecting the statue to honor Attaturk's efforts to make Turkey a modern country. Unless they are making a statue specifically to commemorate Attaturk's actions against the Armenians, I am willing to let it go.
But that is just me. Your opinion may vary and you are welcome to it.
In this case "nature" happens to be the Mayor of Rome who seems to have no problem erecting a statue of a mass murderer.
There is absolutely no need to place a statue of this monster in Rome - and indeed he was - to commemorate what? The ethnic cleansing of several millions of Christians?
You must be too removed from the actual events that took place but there are many thousands of descendants of those who suffered and died for whom this action represents a disrespectful slap in the face.
Kind of like a statue of Stalin set up in Ukraine.
I can think of many women who can get that title, for starters most Victoria's Secret models :)
The real Mustafa as opposed to the cleaned up one by Turks.
Don't be so gullible.
Oh and by the way, any American citizen is free to say what he/she wants to any government he/she wants.
Who assigned you to the role of monitor/censor?

"However he was not a Christian, a given. OTOH be careful of whom you accuse of genocide:
"However, Ataturk was not a mass murderer or supporter of genocide. Armenians principle accusation is that he was responsible for a giant fire that destroyed much of Smyrna when he captured the city from the Greeks during the War of Independence, but in truth, the source of the fire has not been conclusively proven, with both sides blaming the other. Individual Turkish soldiers did most definitely commit war crimes during the course of the war, and of course the non-Turkish populations fleeing the war as refugees suffered many troubles, but Ataturk definitely did not order any organized attempts at genocide."
So what I see is a guy who loved his country and took it into the 20th Century kicking and screaming. You're accuastions of genocide are weak at best.
Someone who says it better than I:
"Go and find me a published encylopedia which accuses Ataturk of sanctioning a genocide, find me a published encylopedia which says Turks raped, pillaged, massacred and set fire to Smyrna, find me a published encylopedia which has a section entitled "Turkish government denial" of an Armenian genocide."
Obviously I will not sign your peitition. Rewrite history somewhere else.
A full blooded response is what is needed here. No half-cocked, soft, or lukewarm action will suffice - passions need to be raging, hot, and the message needs to be pounded home. This erection cannot take place.
Too bad the petition is in Italian...
The Pope is trying to trying to improve relations with the Eastern Church and now this.
The Greeks still talk about the Massacre on the Island of Cios.
The Greeks will not be pleased.
I would sign it, but, I can't read the language.
Now you can't be serious.,.an intelligent wordy guy like you can't figure out a little Italian. All you have to do is sign your name and a couple of other items.
As for your precious allegory: cute, but irrevelant to the discussion.
Thanks for the info. I'm glad I read your post before I signed.
Glorifying a pedophile and butcher appears to fit your definition of a "reformer".
In fact everything you have posted comes from propaganda mill sites. You really need to speak to the descendants and survivors of the monster Ataturk. Do you dare? I doubt it.
You've bought the lies hook line and sinker.
It's not just the Greeks of course. The major genocide of the 20th century was also commited against the Armenian and Assyrian Christians. Muslim Turks did a good job of eliminating any trace of Christianity in Anatolia.
Attatuck kept Turkey out of the hands of the Islamofascists and well into the Western orbit. He deserves our thanks for that.
Interesting growing list of keywords at top of page: " ARMENIA; ASSYRIANS; ATATURK; BONER; CIALIS; ERECTION; FLACCID; GENOCIDE; GREECE; IMPOTENT; LEVETRA; LIMP; STATUE; STIFF; TURKEY; VIAGRA; WOODIE;"
Did the Turkophile also describe the genocide of 2 million Chrstians that took place in Turkey and the fact that Turks still oppress the few minorities still living there?
But then knowing that you wouldn't sign anyway...
No I've asked for published proof. Last time I checked my bathroom wall still holds my degree in history.
Further my Grandfather was at Gallipoli (a gunner on the british side) so no love lost on this guy. However, you just simply state a few "facts" with no proof and expect me to accept them.
Can't find the petition on that site. Perhaps you should post a direct link to the petition itself.
I'll try again.
There are some sick people on FR...a few but there they are. Mostly I assume are Turkophiles.
"No to the genocider Ataturk in Rome"
The link works and just click it. Thanks.
"an intelligent wordy guy like you can't figure out a little Italian"
Are you sure that is in Italian? this is what the 'Fish' returned as a translation from Italian to English:
"Permitas que genocida a Como Ataturk does not hold a monument en Rome. Sumate to los esfuerzos por hacer de este mundo a lugar mas seguro.
Spanish to English did better.
"You do not allow that a genocida as Ataturk has a monument in Rome. Sumate to the efforts to make of this world a place surely but."
Two words that will immediately get a Greek's hair up.
Turkey and Macedonia.
Send email to the major in a language he can understand.
"The link works and just click it. Thanks."
Yes, they do. My mistake!
Do your own research Mr "Historian", but don't expect me to respect propaganda sites. You can start educating yourself by reading:
