"But God . . ."
[Joseph] left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. Genesis 39:12
|
What if Joseph had succumbed to the advances of Potiphar's wife? (Genesis 39). Imagine how he could have justified his sin. "But God, You don't want me to be unhappy, and you know how lonely it is here. Besides, I think I really love her."
What if Abram had disobeyed when God told him to leave Ur and head for parts unknown? (Genesis 12). What if he had said, "But God, I'm established here. I can't afford to risk everything on an uncertain future. I've got to watch out for Sarai. I'm staying."
Praise God that Joseph and Abram did the right thing. Joseph fled temptation; he ran from sin. Abram left Ur; he journeyed in obedience.
In life, we face both of these kinds of choices. Sometimes temptation rises up in front of us. When it does, we can either run and reap God's rewardsor we can give in, reap the sad consequences, and then make sorry excuses. Sometimes we sense that God is leading us in a particular direction. We can choose either to follow Him and trust His omniscienceor we can offer flimsy excuses and live a life of disobedience.
The abundant life of godliness is far better than a life of excuses and despair. Let's live so that we won't give in to the desire to say, "But God . . ." Dave Branon
Let the road be rough and dreary
And its end far out of sight,
Foot it bravely, strong or weary
Trust in God and do the right. Macleod
God does not demand successjust obedience.

Hi all- I am posting these in hopes that it will bring a little bit of home to one of awesome troops- these are photos of my kitchen area Christmas decorations. At the time of these photos there was still a bit of "fluffing" left to do.. but I only had a few mins to use the digital camera before the l'ill guy had to go to a neighbor's house and on a business trip.... so here they are and please excuse, for example, the neighbor's the sock ( I have no idea why he always takes his socks off and throws them?) on the fireplace, the misplaced cords, the wayward lamp...etc... Hehe! Nope- I have not quite yet achieved perfection! Merry Christmas from my family and my home, to all of our troops and their families. Happy Hanukkah, Happy New year! May God bless you all. If I could~ I would invite you all over here for a big buffet or a cup of eggnog and some fudge. Perhaps next Year! I will make a Christmas wish on my favorite childhood ornament .... that each of our heroes and our allied heroes ,overseas, has something of home during their special holdiay....
May the blessed light be on you. Light without and light within. May the blessed sunlight shine upon you & warm your heart until it glows like a great fire,so that a stranger may come & warm himself at it & also a friend. May God always bless you, love you & keep you.
I have had this ornament since I was three years old. Each year we got to pick out an ornament and that is the one I picked out that year!
>The neighborhood kids love the Christmas train. There are colors, blinking lights and moving elves all over the place.( It is my pride and joy! I have collected it for about three years and have one piece left to get) I grew up with Lionel Train under the tree... Yes,I am a train lover!
****
This is our kitchen table where I wrap presents and the kids decorate cookies, make cards and decorations and we hang out...Jimmy insisted the troops would want to see this....why? I am not sure. Hehe!
I know it is a lot of photos... I love decorating for Christmas and entertaining. Thanks for letting me share some of my passion for Christmas with my Canteen family. I hope I get to see some of the other canteen crew's Christmas photos! Please ping me if you put some up! HUGS!

Set it for "Brief" instead of Full.
You only will get title of thread and who pinged you.
