This should have legs too. We're going to see it sometime between Christmas and New Year's.
I don't see "Bareback Mountain" making any money outside those 5 areas, with a few exceptions.
Even my little girls (10, 7), know that these movies are all sizzle and no steak. They liked the original, but they have grown progressively less interested as they've seen each sequel.
They're very excited about "Narnia" though.
I thought the White Witch looked a awful lot like the Borg Queen from Star Trek First Contact ...

I haven't read the books, but the thought of six more movies to torment movie critics warms my heart.
have you seen it? my 11 yo daughter is pretty sensitive and is balking a bit at seeing it, i really want to take her and i explained the Christian symbolism of it to her and that appeals, but i wanted to know from someone who has seen it, if there is anything too intense. i took her to the first Lord of the Rings movie and she sat with her face in my lap the entire time!
The books are so short couldn't they be combined? OTOH, they are just about the right length for a perfect screenplay.
Like Harry Potter, the books get more complex, mystical, and metaphysical as they go.
If you go to a theater in which Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding is playing, watch your ticket stub. They are likely to sell you a ticket to GCEP instead of the movie you went to see in order to pump up the Box Office Receipts.
I thought it was a lot less intense than LOTR ... the battle scenes were definitely "LOTR lite". OTOH, don't be surprised if she gets a bit upset at the Stone Table. The acting is quite good ... Lucy in particular really drew me into the film.

too. All the clips that I see
make the movie look
like Jessica Lange's
Ann Darrow and not Fay Wray's.

Jar Jar didn't bother me.
However, the ability to determine if the "Force" was strong in someone by a blood test completely ruined it for me.
The violence is not bad - it's mostly pageantry and knights-in-armor stuff - no blood to speak of. More likely to bother her are some of the witch's ugly monsters (although they appear just briefly and en masse), when the wolf pops up out of nowhere right into the camera (made me jump!), and of course the death of Aslan. Not gory but heartrendingly tragic. (Of course we know it all turns out o.k. in the end!)
i will have to tell her that aslan doesn't really die, in advance of the movie. she does know he is the Jesus figure in the movie, and she has watched all the disney channel behind the scenes things that they have had on it, so she will probably be ok. they had one of the "movie surfers" go through the process of being made up as one of the semi-scary looking guys. thanks for your input : )
Movie was a good book adaptation, but clearly a book adaptation... you could tell watching the movie that the character interaction and development, well, much of it was assumed, not shown.. this weakened the film somewhat, but it remained relatively true to the book.
In the end, Disney will make a lot of money off this one, and deservedly so.
