Merry Christmas MSM! As our calendar year draws to a close, we have many MSM blunders to laugh about. Most have been "purged from the corporate archives" except those who helped expose the original blunder (FR included).
This MSM Blunder of the Year Candidate hit in early February 2005.
May we never forget John Adam and the MSM who so eagerly brought him before us.

Combing Web sites for Blender fodder yesterday, I had a unique view of what went down: Drudge posted his pictures, and within 10 or 15 minutes both cnn.com and Yahoo! had taken down their respective kidnapping stories. Maybe 20 minutes later, while I was trying to get a look at Cody on the Dragon Models USA, Inc.'s Web site, CNN posted an Associated Press story that reported four important things: The U.S. military reported that no soldiers were missing; the Arabic text in the kidnappers' photo featured "several misspellings and repetitions"; the man in the photo "appeared stiff and expressionless"; and Liam Cusack, Dragon Models' marketing coordinator, told reporters, "It is our doll ... To me, it looks definitely like it is. Everything the guy is wearing is exactly what comes with our figure. If you look at the two pictures side by side, it'd be a huge coincidence." Somebody needs to make a blooper reel of all the MSM screw-ups. I still have to say danny rather's phony "documents" is the all-time great, but there are plenty of others. Remember the reporter who tried to get a bunch of black NO refugees to bad-mouth Bush and none of them would? He went down a line of about 8 people and quit in disgust when nobody would bash Bush.

I see you have the mortar loader guy, but what about the mortar man himself? And what about flame thrower guy and grenade thrower guy? I sure had some fun with those when I was a kid. I had a different set of toy soldiers that were slightly smaller--In setting up battles I used them as the Japs!

Rathergate began in 2004, so not sure its a 2005 candidate.....However, the NOLA, no-bushbashing evacuee interview was hilarious! The look on the MSM reporter's face was PRICELESS!Another one was the recent Canoe-gal on the Today show, where guys walked by in waders. The water was 3 inches deep.

I was in Iraq when this happened. I couldn't believe it! I noticed the doll in the PX at Anaconda and then a few days later there he was being held hostage! To my great relief and amusement I saw that it wasn't a real soldier but the doll from the PX. When it was exposed as a hoax I read about it first on Free Republic. Moral was at an all time high for me.

FA,
Look- he has a weapon, and comes shipped with factory-infused menace on his face.
You know the first thing he would do when he got home from Iraq? Tap Barbie.
You know the second thing he would do when he got back from Iraq? Drop his rucksack.
This cat is hard-core to his plasticene bones. He'd make Ken sit down to piss.
...
...
But yeah, he's basically a doll.

yeah that was a classic too, but that was just an attempt at being overly-dramatic and the morning show did start to make fun of her on camera for it....
this is worse than that. It's an out and out lie that was very easy to debunk.
To: drjimmy
It looks incomplete but they're all HIGHLY trained and specialized. It bugs me, though, that their officer appears to be calling for a retreat.
He's a registered Democrat.

I was in Iraq when this happened. So was I. They pulled one of those full accountability drills saying that they'd heard a soldier was kidnapped.
We had to have our heads counted too and we're just civvies.

No way! He's leading the charge! I always pictured that figure as Lieutenant Hanley (Rick Jason) from the Combat! TV series, with the guy shooting the Tommy gun as Sergeant Saunders (Vic Morrow).
