Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (D) yesterday declared efforts to evacuate state and New Orleans residents before Hurricane Katrina "an outstanding success" and told members of Congress they would not be investigating the government's flawed response into the Aug. 29 storm if levees protecting the city had not failed.
Over three hours of measured, at times defiant testimony to a House investigative panel, the first-term governor rebutted Republican charges that overwhelmed state and city leaders did not order the evacuation of New Orleans soon enough or provide transportation or relief to poor, sick and elderly residents who did not get out before floodwaters rose.
...highlighted state and local officials' actions during the catastrophe that killed more than 1,200 people......

Gov. Blanko stands by her man, Mayor Ray Nagin.
Words fail me.
The article refers to not ordering an evacuation "soon enough." How about leading off with her waiting until the day before, and only after the president intervened. Did anyone ask her why she was getting advice on NOT federalizing the national Guard, and blaming President Bush, from Mike McCurry?
What "success" there was happened DESPITE her failure to act, not because of it. If she calls any actions taken by her and Nagin a "success, I'd sure hate to see what failure is according to her standards.
From her published emails, I believe she was refering to the always popular "Dress for Success" program...
I wouldnt take a bet she wont get elected again.
I thought I'd read before that money that was suppose to go toward the levees was redirected into gambling casinos and other such stuff.
Either way, they need to be shunned.
What she meant to say was " We didn't do anything wrong. Keep sending us more money so we can get back to some full speed corruption."
What buses . . .
In this case a single picture is worth all the useless words
And who was responsible for the levees? The byzantine levee boards of NO.
Lets see...NO below sea level and is sinking about 10 feet per century, NO is located in an area where hurricanes regulary strike. Lets blame nature, er, God... Lets rebuild. (No, lets not...)
No..its Bushes fault..er...its Jefferson's fault...no, its Napolean's fault for selling it to us in the first place!
Just like a Democrat, trying to take credit for the actions of productive citizens deciding that self-evacuation was in their own self interest. The point is that the state and local governments were AWOL when it came to minding the dependency class that they created over the years.
Sadly, the slaves n the plantation of the Democrat Party will elect BOTH of those MORONS again and agaian again. Disgusting!
