Maybe Arnold just let the punishment go through because the Tookster wasn't very repentent. He killed 4 people, didn't care and the punishment went forward. Besides, did the Governator's chief-of-staff argue FOR Williams' execution? How did she play a role?

Arnold may be controversial but I don't think he made his decision based on politics. The facts were there and he did the right thing based on the evidence.

In my town two 14 year old girls were sentenced to 4 years for murdering a pregnant 17 year old. There was nothing but warm embraces and compassion for the heinous criminals.

I think Melanie is stretching a little too much here. There's no reason to believe that Schwarzenegger granted a clemency hearing for the sole purpose of mollifying Dems. Any condemned prisoner has the right to apply for this proceeding.

Why do some people react as if Ah-nuld was the only one who decided Tookie's fate? Tookie's case has been scrutinized by all levels of judicial system, including the not-so-conservative 9th Court, and all of them declined to grant a stay, let alone a new trial.
