No "civil rights" commission is ever going to rule in favor of a real American doing what he wants in his own business. He broke no laws. But he was very un-PC. That's a crime in America today.

The sign indicates that the shop owner only speaks English, and you'll have to order in that language for him to understand you. Stupid civil rights witch-hunters.

Let me say again, I am SO glad to be in the latter years of my life and not the early years. I would not want to be growing up in the America of today. I know things weren't as good as I recall them, but they sure weren't as screwy as they are today. Next businesses will be required to have a translator on site to help those who don't speak English.

Ohio law makes it illegal to discriminate in public accommodations, such as taverns, on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin or ancestry.

Ok, would somebody please explain to me which of those categories the tavern owner supposedly violated.

Kinda like the Simpson's episode when they are in Australia a Marge ordered water and the bar keep kept saying BEER??..

When I was in Italy I had to learn to order things in Italian or point.

I heard today that over 11 million residents of the US can't read and write English.

The bar sign should read...

"No illegals, no illiterates, no liberals, no communists, and f-ing Democrats" --- AMERICANS ONLY!!

He wasn't "un-PC", perhaps he and and his staff just don't speak every *ucking language and dialect.

Hell.

If they don't like it, there's other place to go that do speak their damn language.

I've had it with this whiney ass crap from race baiting bastards that have nothing to do but keep stirring the pot.

Leave this small business owner alone, the market will decide. This is America, I think.

flame away, who cares. I've a robusto, an adult beverage and FR.

Bite your tongue! Your statement may sound sarcastice, but boy does it ring too close for comfort to truth considering the path the ACLY is on right now...

Only in liberal American can this happen:
- Use your own hard earned money to start a PRIVATE, NON-GOV FUNDED BUSINESS, make a personal statement and be forced to

"attend diversity-sensitivity classes"
"run ads with messages of tolerance in local newspapers"

Ok then, play their game. When they come in speaking something besides english, ignore them and walk away. You DO have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

Man this really pulls my trigger! The vein is throbbing on the side of my temple!

If one is to believe the reporter, Ohio law does not prohibit discrimination on the basis of language.

The comparison to "Whites Only" signs is ridiculous. Millions of persons—of every race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin or ancestry—speak English. The requirement that customers of this bar make their wishes known in a tongue intelligible to the owner is an entirely reasonable one.

Speaking in a particular language is a *behavior*, not a classification. He's merely demanding a particular behavior of his customers, much like requiring that they wear shoes and shirts, wear pants, pay in US dollars, don't spit on the floor, don't wear gang attire, etc.

I was at McDonalds one day and they should've had a sign out front telling me, "For service speak Tagalog." It would've saved me time, and I could've just gone to Burger King.

All he has to do is put up a second sign saying "For Service Speak English" in Spanish.

boy that's a seriously biased article. do you think you might find a way to quote at least one person who agrees with the bar owner? he sounds like the ONLY person who doesn't have a problem with the sign. i'd tell this stupid commission to stick it.
