The Patriot Act is no where near dead. It will pass before the end of the year in one form or another.

The next time there's a major strike in this country (I hope he realizes that Las Vegas was on the original Atta hit list), he might regret ever having said this.

Before yesterday's vote, opponents of the legislation rallied around a front page article in Thursday's New York Times that reported Mr. Bush had secretly lifted certain limits on spying inside the United States. After more than a year holding the story, the paper decided to run it on the day of the Patriot Act vote.

Interesting that this is the last line of the acticle. It should have been the headline.

In the end democrats and those who helped to emasculate our anti-terror protection will be responsible for more deaths than 9-11. If that door is not closed again we will all suffer the consequences. There has to be a re-instatement of the Patriot Act. The dems in their blind lust for power will do anything they can to cast aspersions on George W Bush. That is their only focus.

Bookmarking for future reference.

This is a huge mistake for the DemocRats. If a terrorist now slips through the cracks and launches a successful attack, it will be hung around their necks instantly, IMO.

Without doing what is necessary to get a handle on illegal border crossings and profiling muslims on various modes of travel, the Patriot Act does not mean all that much, anyway.

That being said, the only people who really had anything to fear from the Patriot Act were people who intended to do this country harm, and liberals.

And, yes, I know, based on past experience, that could very well be a redundancy.

I heard it mentioned of the John Batchelor Show last night.

I did a google search and only found links to a couple articles on it.

I then read the articles and found the line.

Then I traced it back to the Washington Times.

I think Reid's utterance should be the headline.

Well .. then I just hope Harry gets hit with terrorist bombs in his own state FIRST!

Or .. maybe it would have been better if flight 93 had made it to the capitol building after all!! How about that Harry ..?? And .. in case anybody remembers - when the terrorists didn't finish the WTC the first time - they went back a 2nd time and FINISHED THE JOB.

I agree with Rush - I really DETEST these people.

Time for another landslide election in 2006 and 2008 and put as many of these people out of office as possible.

AND .. YES - WE'RE UP TO IT! And .. if anybody doubts that .. they better fasten their seat belts.

Interpretation of Reid's statement:
"I don't care about the safety and security of Americans. All I care about is political power."

If any clips are available, they need to be archived so if we are attacked by terrorist we can show who really allowed it...

To get the Patriot Act extended? Sure. There may be some changes to areas that haven't even been used, so some Senators can give their constituents something, but otherwise the Act will survive much as we have it today.

And just like the way Hilary clinton almost ran down police officers during the powder scare, as soon as the Rats get hit again they will run to a metaphorical "daddy" and demand something be done.

Then when they have their cookies and nap, it will be back to whinning about "Daddy".

"We killed the Patriot Act," boasted Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat,

Thereby proving to their left wing lunatic base that RATS are still in power in DC. Repubs should be ashamed of themselves IMO. I know some Freepers didn't like the Patriot Act, but we will be naked just like we were before 911, after 12-31-05 passes and the Act expires, and the Gorelick wall be back up. Bush cannot win either way on this if we ARE attacked or if we are NOT. Harry Reid and his ilk have one more notch in their belt today. "Bush must go" is their mantra and will continue with the help of an entire library of "stories" the WaPo and NYSlimes are sitting on in order to bring about impeachment. Example is the NSA story this week which was in the can over a year ago, just waiting for the right moment to print - probably triggered by the RATS call to NYT. Everyday I am more convinced that impeachment is just around the corner, and I expect a slew of Pubbies to soon come out in the RAT corner demanding articles of impeachment. If you repeat the lies often enough, even the Congress is going to start believing it, or at least start listening to their back home constituents b$tching about wanting impeachment.

Headline should read. "Harry Reid Supports Terrorism".

I have not seen a meltdown in civil rights since the Patriot Act was passed. Although a few provisions may be questionable, the courts have upheld the main provisions of the law.

I continually am astounded that a party that wants to limit the freedoms of US Citizens, expand the rights and benefits of illegals and is in denial about the reality of the dangers of the world can have so many supporters.

The left doesn't want the Patriot Act because they have the public education system and social service industry to spy on and manipulate families through their children.

The left just loves keeping people poor, hungry and mad at "the man".

They are masters of double talk. They thrive on the fact that their followers do not want the truth but a target on the right to vent rally against.

One can't help but wonder if Harry will still be bragging about this "accomplishment" when the next attack on America kills scores and could have been prevented.

I suspect that their tired old line of "Bush's fault" and "He didn't tell us this could happen" will become their mantra.
