Love the opening line! I work in the children's book industry and consider myself well-informed about it. I've never seen one of Tookie's books or heard he published one until the clemency issue was raised. Has any kid ever actually read (let alone benefited from) one of Tookie's books? I have my Doubt It Hat on.

Doubfutl, it seems his bestselling book sold just 330, and all of them combined under 1,000. Whoops...
