This is all blather from the Administration, caving into the media.

ALL the immediately prior Presdients of the U.S. and their advisors were wrong. ALL of the major intelligence services were wrong. ALL of Sadam's neighbors were wrong. ALL of the informants among Iraqi refugees were wrong. Sadam HIMSELF was wrong. There were NO weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq.

THIS is what the Dems, the media and NOW - the Administration would have us believe.

Baloney!!

The weapons WERE there and now they are gone. WHERE?? Where woould Mussolini have hid an atom bomb if the U.S. occupied Italy in WW2?? Where would the NAZIs have hidden an atom bomb in WW2 if the U.S. occupied Germany in WW2??

We need look no further than the neighboring Baathist state - the same state which is feeding insurgents into Iraq for WHERE the WMD are. Syria.

Delenda est Syria. And the Administration should grow some testacles.

Mr Powell confirmed that White House "hawks" US Vice-President Dick Cheney and Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had bypassed him

I don't believe this for a second. If there was a quote to confirm this, they would have published it in the article.

How unfair, jsut when the dems weere really getting wound up to tar and feather our president, Powell comes out wiht this. Actually I thought it pretty funny when those screaming about being lied to had to admit they never actually read the intelligence reports, jsut a summary. this is kind of the whipped cream on top of the frosting. Talk about having their Christmas spoiled.

Mr Powell's former chief-of-staff Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson made the damning allegations last month, accusing Cheney and Rumsfeld of running a "cabal" and hijacking US military and foreign policy.

Man, what a scandal! The President, Vice-President, and Secretary of Defense "hijacked" US military and foreign policy! Seriously, you think these bozos every read what they write before it's published?

So, you are going to vote based upon a single issue? My combat military friends never decided to shoot enemy combatants based upon Pro-Life or Pro-Choice. They never voted for an elected official based upon this topic. These guys were college educated personnel coming from business, and understood the spider-web of human complexities in decision making.

One focussed, single issue is myopic to the nth degree.

For instance, my brother who saw combat as a chopper pilot in Viet Nam was pro life for Americans. With the combatants, he was pro-choice and gave orders to kill the combatants.

These illiterate bozos can't read, or write either for that matter. They just move their fingers around on the keyboard and submit whatever shows up on the monitor, expecting the proof readers to edit it-trouble is the proof readers are illiterate too.

Oh, I have to play "Stop The Tape!" with this one:

Mr Powell's comments follow US President George W. Bush's acceptance earlier this week of responsibility for going to war on intelligence, much of which "turned out to be wrong".

Colon Bowell is trying to distance himself from the "scandal-plagued" administration, so that he can still be acceptable to the lecture circuit...

US administration was never told of doubts about the secret intelligence used to justify war with Iraq

And why is Bowell, who was once National Security Advisor, running to a hostile foreign news service with tales of strife inside the locker room?

For his part, Mr Powell considered the US military could not be deployed in Iraq at its current strength for years to come

And there's a key phrase - for HIS part - this is all about damage control to Bowell's reputation...

Mr Powell confirmed that White House "hawks" US Vice-President Dick Cheney and Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had bypassed him and other colleagues on occasions.

As if Colon Bowell was the final arbiter of all things international.

And finally, here's The Money Shot:

Mr Powell's former chief-of-staff Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson made the damning allegations last month, accusing Cheney and Rumsfeld of running a "cabal" and hijacking US military and foreign policy.

Another knife in the back from the Clinton holdouts at State and CIA - the old "BushCO/Haliburton" conspiracy Trojan gets another life cycle, and Colon Bowell, a darling of the left only slightly less than McCain, gets a chance to appear noble and detached from EvilBoosh.

You have to remember that this view of Iraq (that it had WMD) was held during the Clinton administration and didn't change in the Bush administration.

re: "Totally nukes the Bush Lied crowd."

Notwithstanding the opening sentence that "the Administration" was not told, the rest of the article takes great pains to mention that Rumsfeld was the evil bloodsucker that "bypassed" Powell, and that conversations were "unpleasant" (read scary for anti-war crowd.)

Am I just that jaded now?

It seems to me that this is a set-piece to pile on Bush that he let Rumsfeld hawks "manipulate the intelligence" and hide doubts from Powell.

Powell will stay as the left's dove-standard, and they will crow "culture of corruption."

Well, here's hoping Bush's tv address is a winner.

Thanks for the ping to this; I'd have missed it otherwise, kayak.

I'll save it to my files for future use. What I'd love to know is if Powell really thinks the intel was bad, or if he thinks the weapons were moved to Syria but can't say for a variety of reasons.

Nearly all the head guys put in charge of finding the WMD have said they have credible evidence that WMD were moved to Syria before 3/03. In fact, Powell himself showed satellite photos to the UN that showed convoys of trucks leaving known WMD sites in Iraq for the Syrian border.

Maybe someday we'll know.

Man, did you hit the nail on the head!Saddam had six months to move his WMDs before we attacked. In Oct 2004, it came out that Russian advisors were overseeing the move of the WMDs to Syria for Saddam. The news lasted exactly one news cycle and then disappeared off the radar screen. No one in the MSM picked it up--deliberately.

I read our satellites have images of truck convoys moving from Iraq to Syria.

What do you think was in them?

Also, people have to stop and think what is WMD? Do we have to find 2 TONS of anthrax, before it's WMD, when, in fact a few ounces can kill thousands of people? And how easy is it to hide a small envelope? How can we discover it when we have an entire country to search and we are not allowed to even inconvenience prisoners, who might know where they are?
