...but she doesn't think America's changed at all when it comes to race relations. "The blacker you are, the worse it is for you...

May I be the first to say "Shut Up And Sing"?
Free boat to Africa for her.
Just shut-up, no singing please.
Come to think of it, I might just like your idea better.
First of all, it ain't true and get over yourself, Mary J. Blige. You are the racist; not America.
Jealous of Mariah and Beyonce, that's all it's about. Never mind that she's hundreds of times richer than this white girl.
She'd probably be on welfare if it wasn't for all the white people dishing out millions of their bucks for her garbage.
Geography is apparently not her strong suit.
"Mary J. Blige: ...white America dominates and rules. And it's racist."
But it's okay or unspoken, the horrors occuring daily in Africa where grown men with aids are sodomizing INFANT girls because they were tricked into believing doing so will cure them of their HIV aids. Or how about how young females genitals are being snipped and cut off by the men as some weird form of control. Or how about how black on black slavery STILL exists in Africa. Better not discuss that dirty OPEN secret, huh.
Just looking at the corporate world around me I would say that success has less to do with the darkness of skin. It seems to have more to do with the proficiency in reading and writing English. No one will hire an employee to a high profile, high paying job if he can't communicate with the rest of the company.
I'm so glad I don't do popular culture!
Yup, just like billionaire Ohpra
And that's the reason why I've been considered an angry, mad, ignorant black woman in the music business."
and only in this so-called "racist" country can someone fitting the above description break away from her past and become a wealthy "whatever it is" she wants to be... there's no caste system here... where else can people break out of the social class in which they were born?
And did I mention she's also jealous of Halle Berry? Hehe.
Rules are rules!
Somebody should tell that ignorant ----- that blacks have more opportunity and success in the United States than in any other country. Just a damn shame so few of them even make the slightest effort to take the opportunity.
Fame, fortune, and celebrity aren't enough for her. She's still whining.
Me, too. First time I ever heard of her. How nice to know there's another ignorant twit in the world that I wasn't aware of until now.
I see she like to look "white".
Her opinions on anything are important because...
I couldn't believe it. I was drowned in a flurry of bitter invectives about the hated Bush, that Bush only went to Iraq to enrich his Enron buddies, that Bush is personally keeping bin Laden in a lavish apartment somewhere in the US, that bin Laden really wasn't to blame for 9/11 but rather the evil imperialist Bushistas, we had it coming, that Bush has bankrupted America and lied and deceived and perpetrated all sorts of evil, and yes, of course Bush doesn't care about black people. I even got an earful about the NSA eavesdropping story, "I guess now you know how we felt all along", as if the NSA has been secretly eavesdropping on black folks forever. I was stunned at the total belief in all the moonbat happy horsesh*t.
Sad, isn't it?
I think she should go to some other country and live (not as a wealthy person) for awhile and then come back and report. And, if she still thinks somewhere else is better, she can stay there. I don't care!
After going out to happy hours a few times with mixed company I was suprised at the blacks who shun 'nubians'.
As I recall, it was common for the house-slave parents to forbid their kids from playing with the field-hand slaves.
I'm sure its only blacks buying her music anyway.
Note that she is crying to the foreign press.
Come to think of it, don't the Mexicans strive to have children with lighter skin? I heard not too long ago that they abhor darker skin.
Another candidate for French citizenship.
It does make one wonder what her definition of racism is.
White America rules.
You forgot the sarcasm tags. Seriously, there are folks here who will call you racist.
See post 35.
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in a rather scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.' -- Lewis Carroll ..
we are never without hope... its just how you frame it
maybe she needs to save a horse by riding a cowboy
change those jeans girl!
forgot the sarcasm tags
OOPS! You're right! My Bad!
Well a lot of black women are racist in that they dont like the lighter skinned girls. Jealous?? I dunno , the black men seem to like them ok. Maybe she should have a talk with
I can't deny that racism doesn't still exist because it does. I just doubt that Ms Bilge has to sit in the back of the bus, that she has to go to a separate restroom, that she is denied the right to vote, etc...
"Fame, fortune, and celebrity aren't enough for her. She's still whining."
laughing... hey I'm a white American. I would be grateful to get one third of the money Blige blows on her lavish wardrobe. My fancy bedspread with five decor pillows can't even hold a candle to her glitzy glad rags.
"As I recall, it was common for the house-slave parents to forbid their kids from playing with the field-hand slaves."
The reason couldn't have been because the field workers refused to rub their hands with aloe hand moisturizing cream at the end of the day sold at Bath Bed and Beyond? Nah, couldn't have been that reason.
I say boycott the so called acting and singing world, I have been doing it for years.
As long as humans are human all sorts of isms will exist. In the US motivated people don't sit around and worry about it. They make something of themselves. And if they are kind as well they try to help others pull themselves up as well.
Yes, Mexico is very color-coded, light (being considered better) to dark. I bet this is common worldwide. I know it is in the black community.
