SONOMA, Calif. The man who's given credit for inventing light beer has died.
Joseph Owades (oh-WAY'-deez) was 86 years old. His brother says he died Friday of heart failure at his home in Sonoma, California.
He worked for several beer companies, and ran a consulting firm that helped both Miller and Budweiser develop products.
In addition to light beer, he's credited with creating the formulas for some well-known brands, including Samuel Adams and Tuborg.
I forgot to provide the recipe for light beer in my last post. Here it is:
1 part regular tasty beer
1 part goat piss
Stir, then consume.
Any 86 year old beer guy (even lite beer)gets a salute form me.

Some of my frinds drink light beer. They wanted to go see Brokeback Mountain last weekend. Had to refuse.
I wound up with a truckload of Sam Adams once - you would not believe how hard it was to get rid of it all.

Yeah, died in Germany, long ago, from getting the crap kicked out of him for violating their 1516 Beer Purity Law. First, and probably last, guy to put water in beer over there.
Both. Either way, the regular full-calorie is the way to go. Want to burn calories after 10-12+ beers? Walk or jog home - takes longer after getting lost a few times.

This renowned brewmaster is credited with developing the first low calorie or "light" beer in 1967. He trumped this first light beer milestone when he developed Edison. Dr. Owades and New Century Brewing Co. hold a patent on Edison's unique brewing process.
Dr. Owades received a BS from City College of New York, and an MS and PhD from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He was honored with the Award of Merit of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas in 1994, and is a member of the Institute of Brewing (London) and of the leading brewing organizations in the United States.
Well, whaddya know? I must be in the front row.
