Police: Road rage leads to grenade threat (TROP)
WFAA TV Dallas ^ | Dec. 20, 2005 | REBECCA LOPEZ

Posted on 12/21/2005 8:54:12 AM PST by PAR35

Richardson police said they were surprised to find a grenade inside a car following a confrontation between two drivers in North Texas.

Police said one of the drivers threatened the other with the hand grenade, which wasn't the only alarming object police said they found in the car. They also confiscated additional ammunition that could have been used to create an explosive.

"As officers approached the car...they saw what appeared to be a couple of hand grenades inside the car," said Sgt. Kevin Perlich, Richardson Police Department.

***

Police checked the grenades and said they were real but did not have explosive material in them so they were not actively explosive, but they did find other ammunition inside the car.

***

Police said the incident started as road rage between Kimberly Al-Hornsi, 41, and a male driver.

"She pulls out what appears to be a hand grenade, pulls the pin and starts making threatening motions like she is going to throw it at him," Harn said.

The male driver called Richardson police and they found Al-Hornsi coming out of the parking lot of the Brighter Horizon's Academy in Garland where she had just picked up her teenage daughter.

For those who don't know, Brighter Horizons Academy is a Muslim training facility in the Richardson area. http://www.brighterhorizons.org/main.htm

95% of all highway incidents of road rage could be avoided if people had a concept of what "passing lane" means.

Sometimes I wish I had a few hand grenades.

I'd like to know how he got ahold of hand-grenades. We know that Mosques in the ME are used to store ammo, is it the same here?

Why do I wonder what they are being trained to do?

Presumably the explosives were removed from the grenades so they could be used in bomber-belts that the kiddies are learning to make.

Where did she get the grenades, what else was she up to, and shouldn't the DHS be interested in said training facility?
Sounds like they need to be eyeballed something fierce.

1) Torture her and find out what she knows
2) Release her
3) Tap her phone and gather additional information
4) Brief Sen. Rockefeller
5) File Sen. Rockefeller's letter expressing his inability to understand what he was briefed on.

Couldn't any ammo be used to create an explosive?

Denatured grenades didn't used to be that hard to get. It isn't clear whether these had fuses or not.

This from their website:

The Dallas Central Mosque accommodates about 1,500 Muslims during Jumuaa (Friday) prayers and has undergone a major expansion due to the continuous growth of the number of Muslims. The area is also home to ten other smaller masjids. This is just one sign of the rapid and continuous growth of the Muslim population in the area. Such growth indicated the need for the Muslim community to establish Islamic schools to preserve the identity of the young Muslim generation.

It's a good thing it's the Religion of Peace we're talking about here or I'd be worried.

Given the amount that Sen. Rockefeller has been aiding and abetting the enemy, perhaps he should be tortured to see if he knows her and her plans.

You can't really tell from this report. I'm sure that will end up being the official story. I'd have to see them myself or hear from someone who had seen them and knew what they were talking about (and had no motivation to cover up) before I'd agree.

"It is very serious," said Officer Joe Harn, Garland Police Department

I noted the article did not mention anything about an arrest. Real grenades, less explosives? Lets hope this individuals background is at least investigated.

For a Mom to do this, on her way to pick up her daughter at school is very suspect.

Be glad that the 2nd Amendment protects Texans. The Lone Star State is the wrong place for Muslims to engage in terrorist activities. We're armed and not expecting the nanny state to protect us. Chances are that a Muslim who tried an attack would be riddled in bullets within 5 minutes or less by passers-by.

95% of all highway incidents of road rage could be avoided if people had a concept of what a freaking "turn signal" is, stay in their freaking lane and not weave in and out of traffic, cutting off other drivers because they see three inches between two other cars they can just barely squeeze into, thus tailgating and putting themselves inches in front of another car at the same time.

Moronic idiot tailgating mutoids.

You can't really tell from this report.

I was being sarcastic with the Christmas gift comment.

And I do agree, this report lacks info.

No comment about an arrest I noticed. Of course it's hard for police to make arrest without a crime. But the fact is the male motorist would not have know she had grenades in her vehicle unless she held one up to display it.

If he were removed from office and kicked out as an undesirable, he'd show up somewhere with a headband and a bomb belt while screaming "Allahu saladbar!" before getting confused and wandering off.

Very lucky.
I'm surprised she didn't.

Also surprised the cops didn't ventilate her either.
Grenades would tend to make me kinda nervous.
Unless she suddenly got extremely compliant once they showed up.

By denatured do you mean "dummy" rounds? Wouldn't arming them be simpler than building a pipe bomb? Drill out the fill, replace with explosive, fix the pin/ignition system?

Of course it's hard for police to make arrest without a crime.

You should be able to make an assault case out of pulling the pin and waving the grenade at someone. It's sort of like charging someone with armed robbery who is using a toy gun.

They may be waiting to see if the feds plan on doing something.

Threat with a deadly weapon...
Waving or pointing a gun or even a gun-like object at someone is a crime..
Waving a hand-grenade is also a crime.. Same law applies..

I have to assume she was arrested..

Under the circumstances, if the other person had been armed, and shot her, it would definitely be deemed self-defence..

No. Even though we don't have a "passing lane" per say here, I always let the faster traffic pass on the left.

So let me guess, are you one of those people who believe that the posted speed limit applies only to the right lane, and that the left lane is a de facto autobahn wiothout a speed limit? Are you one of those people who swerves in and out of traffic, cutting people off and tailgating because everyone around you doesn't agree with your concept of "traffic flow?"

I have leaned never to assume anything.

I find it very odd the article neglected to state if she was arrested or not.

Clearly they had evidence from the male driver that she had in fact displayed the grenade.

Couple of paper weights you could buy at any army/navy surplus store and a few rounds of .22 LR, and these becomes possible explosive devices?

Male cops have penises and female cops have vagina's, therefore, all cops are potential rapists or prostitutes.

Good morning.
"Paperweights have a hole drilled in the bottom and are not real grenades."

It wouldn't be hard to make them "real". Every thing needed to make them go boom was recently reported stolen, if I recall correctly .

The Davidians used to sell these things at gun shows and a UPS driver reported them to the Feds for having grenades.

This was one of the reasons the Feds gave for their idiotic raid.

A bunch of dead people over paperweights, eh.

In California they'd have a rally for her 'civil rights being violated.' (Poor Muslims, always blamed for everything).
