Also I've already called DeWeenie blasting him for his support of the filibuster.

To hell with that gentleman stuff, our country is at risk. Make the jerks stand up there and do a real filabuster. Maybe old Byrd will finally retire while spitting on the Senate floor. Time to act like real men and women, not girley menand sissies. Frist probably wears silk undies with no fly.

Good for you, this guy will lose in November if he plays around with Alito vote. Does he have a primary opponent?

I couldn't agree with you more. I am so sick of some of these RINO Libs who disguise themselves as Republicans when they run for election.

I'm pretty ticked off already since hearing that Snowe and Hagle have called for an investigation into the wire tapping fiasco. Now this! Makes me want to kick a reindeer.

As of now, there is no primary opponent for DeWine, the filing deadline is in Februray. There is a primary opponent for Lincoln Chafee.

Yes but, I was hoping W would get to make lots of recess appointments during the CHRISTmas break.

During the recess can't republican senators pass lots of other things...let the rats go home and bring up legislation, they've filibustered? Just thinking out loud.

I agree!!!

My Senator (Ensign) has been called, emailed and faxed.

Senator Dingy Reid has been contacted to let him know what a traitor he is.

Below you will find the list of all senators. Call them all! This nonsense must stop. They work for US! I don't give a rip if they spend Christmas standing in the senate squirming with the need to go potty. If they want to filibuster ... BRING IT ON!

Toll free numbers are irrelevant to me as I only have a cell phone. Minutes, not numbers count.

I call them all, frequently. If more would, we may get someplace. Until then we can sit at our keyboards and whine I guess.

Oh, what a great and original idea. Here's the reality pill: One can call, e-mail, fax, and howl at the moon all one wants.

Unless that one happens to be a major campaign contributor, the senator in question will never even see or hear of whatever grievance is conveyed, and the best one can hope for is to be placed on said senator's franked mail list. That will only win a lifetime supply of nonsensical propaganda in the old mailbox.

Oh, sure, the staffers keep a running tally of the positive/negative responses, but those stats are for internal use only, and only justify the existence of the staff.

These senators know two things very, very well: That they have lifetime rights to their little feifdoms as long as they keep the big money people happy, and that the voters are too friggin' stupid and lazy to ever mount any meaningful challenge to their thrones.

As disgusting as that all sounds, if it makes a person feel better to scream and yell at some anonymous voice on the other end of the phone line, then have at it. The best you can hope for is a well-ventilated spleen.

Things will never change until voters come to their senses and term-limit these worthless turds via the ballot box. The royals are confident this will never happen because that is the dirty little secret of this so-called "two-party" system: People will vote party over principle every time out of the chute.

World's upside down.

Lately I've been trying to keep them out of town to prevent further damage, and here now I am actually demanding they stay. Go figure.

Yet they need to stay and if they miss their vacations. Tough. They should have finished this before our lives would be in jeopardy with the Patriot Act's expiration, as well as military left unfunded. It's their damn fault and I expect them to fix it immediately or no holiday jet setting.

Nope. Sorry, but by the vaunted Senatorial tradition, passing anything requires 61 AFFIRMATIVE votes; therefore, the defense budget would FAIL with a vote of 56-0 by a margin of negative fifty-six. The no NOs have it; zero carries the day!

Phone calls from big money contributors matter. The voters be damned. Keep on dreaming, Pollyanna.

Snail mail is delayed for weeks since the big anthrax scare, and most of it goes into the shredder after your return address is gleaned for the franked mail list.

Phone calls from commoners are charted, and the results are seldom passed to the bluebloods.

Same with e-mail; nobody takes it seriously unless, of course, there is a personal threat to the elite addressee. You are being scammed and laughed at by people that think you aren't fit to shine their shoes.

FROM US GOV INFO AT ABOUT.COM

So, you're going to write your Congressman? Good idea.
Make it a good letter.

People who think members of Congress pay little or no
attention to constituent mail, are plain wrong. Concise,
well thought out personal letters are one of the most
effective ways Americans have of influencing law-makers.
But, members of Congress get hundreds of letters and
emails every day. Whether you choose to use the Postal
Service or email, here are some tips that will help your
letter have impact.

Write on!

Pollyana

This is rediculous. Come on. We can get a lot of things done, but spending money on phone calls "demanding" that the Senate stay in session on Christmas. There is no way they will do this. Plus, most of the staffers are getting the phone calls and probably just saying "Oh sure I will give the message" and then just goes back to surfing the net. I just think that we have more important issues to worry about. I believe everything has been accomplished for this year in the minds of the Senate.
