What we are seeing right now re chaplains and the Name of Jesus is just one more float in the parade to destroy our First Amendment freedom of speech, and to denude this provision in particular: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Fox News Reporting:
Deal Appears Close on Renewing Patriot Act
"WASHINGTON Senate Republicans Wednesday evening tentatively signed onto an agreement that will fully reauthorize the Patriot Act in its current form but also allows lawmakers to revisit controversial parts of the act that are subject to extensive opposition. ...
"According to the deal reached late Wednesday, the 16 expiring provisions of the Patriot Act would be renewed for four years, but House and Senate leaders would allow changes in the law to be submitted for an up or down vote by May 31, 2006.
"Republicans still need to pick up the support of four Democrats to break the possibility of a filibuster against the Patriot Act, which is set to expire at the end of the year. The House has already approved the final version."

Doing pretty good. Enjoying life in Arizona again...
Just got done visiting my son at the mall where he works.

I just on and am catching up with the Dose. What a surprise awaited me! You are so thoughtful, snugs. Thank you for my beautiful toaster and award.
Haven't read ahead yet, did SoCal tell you she had bangers and mash yesterday? I love the name but I chose roast beef. It was delicious!

Okay, I see the table at your dinner (beautiful, by the way) and I see a tubular gift wrapped item. Can you explain what it is? There were a lot of them, in different sizes, in the store SoCal and I went in.

I'm not from England but I think I can tell you what that tubular gift is.
Snugs can correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe that's what is called a cracker.
You and another person pulls it to make a prize come out of it.

Pippin is correct I suspect they have them in Canada - am I right my little hobbit. It is a Christmas Cracker, they have a paper hat, a joke and normally a small gift in the cheaper ones just platic shape of something like a dog or frog or may hair grip in the more expensive you can have toilitories or playing cards etc.
The snap in the cracker is where when you pull it it goes bang I think originally it was a small amount of gunpowder not certain what they use now.
Here is a site that gives more details.
http://mkn.co.uk/cracker/
It is strange being English I cannot imagine a Christmas meal without a cracker.
