Very old news. The medical establishment is so far behind the nutritionists it's pathetic. For even better results, add the amino acids LUTEIN
My optometrist diagnosed me with Macular Degeneration a few years ago. He measures any changes by the number of Druzen (whitespots) on the Macula. The more druzen means MD has worsened. I was able to reduce the number of druzen and therefore reverse MD by taking an over the counter supplement containing Lutein and exercising regularly.

I have been on a low glycemic index diet for almost 2 years now. I am not diabetic, but am pre-diabetic. I feel so much better, I can't believe it. Plus, I think my mind and memory work better.

I'd be interested in learning about your pre-diabetic diet. My doctor told me to watch my sugar. He advised, "Lose the taste for sugar."
Do you eat carrots and bananas?

A google search on low glycemic diet brings up a lot.
I eat a mixture of brown rice and barley often during the day. Also oatmeal. No sugar. The whole grains release a long slow blood sugar instead of spikes and valleys. Carrots are fine, but too much fruit isn't. and i love fruit.

Also oatmeal. Do you put anything on your oatmeal? Like raisins? Are you allowed to eat raisins?
The reasons I asked about carrots, is that I could sit and eat a whole bag of small cut carrots, and people were telling me that was very bad.

These health foods are fine as long as you wash your mouth out with chocolate three times a day.*snort*

Did you try melatonin? It works well for some people.

Yes, but only 3mg, though. Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion. My challenge was that I foolishly drank coffee late that night, thinking it wouldn't affect me. You'd think I'd have learned something by my age!
