Letter: 'Gay Day' not for 'the public' Wednesday, December 28, 2005
A few days before Newton North's all-day "Gay Day" assembly, a parent called and asked me to attend it for him because he had to work. I'd been to several over the past few years, when my own children were students. (It was on Dec. 7 - they had Gay Day instead of Pearl Harbor Day.)
I called the superintendent's office and was told that this year "the public" was not allowed. Taxpayers in Newton who aren't Newton North parents have been to assemblies there in the past without any problem. I have been to several school events around town, even though my kids weren't students at the time.
I've lived in Newton 42 years. I've sent eight children through Newton North. I help pay for that school. And I'm suddenly not entitled to attend an assembly? And since when am I simply "The Public?" I thought it took a village to raise children.
After attending five years of these assemblies, there really couldn't be much indoctrination more shocking that I've already heard. Had I come anyway, would the Newton Police have been called to arrest me, like Principal Jennifer Huntington did last year to two parents she didn't like?
In her column, Karla Hailer-Fidelman seems to like "Gay Day" a lot. Do you remember, Karla, three years ago when I sat in back of you as two little girls were swapping tongues there? May I suggest to you, Karla, that you find a support group on parenting. And I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

If school events aren't for the "public" then maybe it's time to end "public" education funded by tax dollars.
Might as well have been a gay day as they would have just celebrated the attack on Pearl Harbor and mourned the loss of the Axis.

This is more acurately described as gay porn day imposed upon other people's children by scum of the earth adults who absolutely control Newton. They don't want parents in there to comment on what they do with kids. Parents that put their kids in Newton public schools, even knowing what they are doing, are no better than child abusing pimps.
I have absolutely no tolerance for homosexuals. I don't know why but I cannot stand to be around them.
