And the way this season is going, you'll probably be doing that on New Year's Day.

Incredibly, that is a very real possibility.

After three long years our new house is finally complete! Our annual New Year's Eve bash -- put on hold because of house construction and being squashed into an apartment -- has returned. We've got quite a crew, too; Christian Protestants, three devout Catholics, at least two Agnostics, I don't know what the last three are (they're newbies to our party), a published RPG game developer, a former Disney animator, and we all love science fiction and fantasy.

It's a pot luck where I serve my traditional barbeque meatballs and my friend Sarah brings her garlic artichoke dip with pita bread (addictive stuff!) and we all get silly on Sam Adams, Guinness, coffee and Coke. We always watch the ball drop in Times Square, and will be happy to see Dick Clark back at the helm.

Happy and safe New Year's to all my friends at FR!

My hubby and I are are both recovering from colds so it looks like a quiet evening at home. We have so much to be greatful for... two weddings, two wonderful new children in law, my son is healthy and my daughter happy... my other son is with a wonderful woman and he's fully employed, my husband of 35 1/2 years and I are more in love than ever. I resolve to exercise even if I'm not feeling well and continue to cut back on the carbs. Also resolve to start reading the Bible on Jan. 1, actually, listening to it day by day on the internet.

The Rum Cake is excellent. It is not the fanciest looking cake at the pot lucks I've taken it too, but it always gets eaten and people beg for the recipe.

Thanks! This will be my second time. I quit a few years ago for an entire year, then went back due to stress. How stupid was that?

Anyway I really want to quit, and have all the supplies lined up to help. Thank you for your kind words.

Oh, you take me back...sounds like the dinners we used to have over at the Polish Hall back in Michigan...

One of my party guests is Polish and found a new bakery in the Detroit area. He's bringing "dessert" Pierogies, stuffed with blueberries, apples, cream cheese, etc.! He's going to boil them, then sautee them in butter! I'm not a big pierogi fan but these sound tempting.

We're staying home, and will watch Dick Clark..I pray he does well.

I'll make my special Lasagna for my sweet husband...and have it again New Year's day. Oh, and we'll have marinated black-eyed peas for luck.

Happy (almost) new years!
I actually have a recipe request...
My Lithuanian/ Polish mother who has since passed on, used to make a dish I would *love* to know how to make.
I think it was called " klatski's" Or something similar. It was pork, beef and seasonings in a dough shell, that was cooked in boiling water. It was served in a sour cream/onion sauce.
VERY OT I know, But I am desperate!

Happy new year to all!

I wish you luck with your new mattress. I'm actually getting fed up with my select comfort bed. We bought it 5 years ago after my husband broke his back. It was extremely comfortable at first, however Mr. passionfruit's side sprung a slight leak, and now after replacing the air chamber on his side, the new air chamber on his side is leaking too. The mattress has lost it's original shape, and is now visibly lower at the head than at the foot, and until I can figure out what to do, it is causing us a great deal of discomfort anfd reflux.

After three long years our new house is finally complete!

Oh, my goodness! What a relief! A lot of times people don't realize that it just doesn't come together in an hour like on "This Old House".... :)

Huh. Hey - there's a 20 year warranty on it I hear. And if you can't get a new one, just turn around and sleep the other way !! :-)

After too much back pain from sleeping, it's out with my old mattress - in with a new Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed !

Just make sure you pick an even number for your sleep number...I hear the odd numbers are for libs!!!! ;)
