I resolve to be a bigger pain in the arse in 2006 than I was in 2005.

I applaud you, since you're so near perfection anyway...

;)

Aside from my Rum Cake recipe, above, this weekend our thoughts and prayers are with our lovely 20 year old daughter and her new husband. They are both serving in the Army in Germany. She will be staying there, but on Sunday our new son-in-law ships out to Iraq, probably for a year.

We would appreciate if our good friends at FreeRepublic could keep the kids in your prayers too.

After too much back pain from sleeping, it's out with my old mattress - in with a new Select Comfort Sleep Number Bed !

I'll finally start to sleep better which gives me more energy to fight the Liberals who try to trash America !!!

I consider it getting closer to Nirvana. But my wife calls it something else entirely.

Whoa...your feast sounds good also...I bought some cabbage and blackeyed peas today also...but, may have ham with it, not sure...

RE: quitting smoking? I will definitely give you prayers and encouragement...I have quit twice in my life.

Once when I married my husband, because he didn't smoke...and that lasted until 6 months after my second baby...(post partum depression)...

Then 10 years ago...I told my husband for our anniversary, his present would be for me to quit for good...which I did.

BUT, I thought long and hard before I made the promise..and was SURE that I was ready...that is the key..you have to really be ready to quit.

Therefore...I will give all encouragement, but will always be with you, no matter what..and if you feel the need to VENT...come to me!

And the way this season is going, you'll probably be doing that on New Year's Day.

my winning hors d'oeuvre and easy to make

Fresh sliced tomato

place a thin slice of fresh mozzarella cheese on it

place a fresh basil leaf on top of that

and cover lightly with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Make a try and watch them disappear.

One of my favs for tailgating, or casual get-together:

BLOODY MARY BALLS:

Time Required: 30 minutes prep, plus overnight to let the alcoholic goodness sink in

Skill Required: No cooking skills needed; intermediate drinking skills required

Ingredients:

Cherry tomatoes

Vodka (use a good brand)

Celery salt, Old Bay, Cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, in small bowls

Toothpicks

Preparation:

Blanch the tomatoes by dropping them into boiling water until the skin puckers. Remove the tomatoes and pull the skin off. Allow them to cool.

Soak the tomatoes in vodka overnight.

To serve:
Put your spices into small bowls.

Spear a tomato with a toothpick, roll into the spices of your choice, and pop it into your mouth.

Repeat as often as necessary.

Alternatively, you can season the vodka prior to soaking the tomatoes, then provide some Old Bay for dipping.

YUMMY !!!!!!!!!
