My family has been in the same county for at least 11 generations.
Much of NW Florida did come from Georgia and Alabama but it was 100-200 years ago. Most of mine came from Scotland or North Carolina back in the early 1700's. Some of my Daddy's folks were late comers, they came from Georgia in the mid 1800's.
The picture you so proudly display as being the sign of a true "redneck" can be explained by several other ethnic slurs, that I cannot for PC reasons say here (or anywhere) but it is OK to slur people as being "rednecks". The term "rn" has come to mean poor, trashy, ignorant, low class, uneducated whites. The picture (that I think is probably staged) could just as easily be in the yard of a black or hispanic but those minorities must not be disparaged because it is not politically correct to do so.
You see, I am not as PC as you think. Take the term "rn" (as you refer to it,) and from the way you define it, remove the term "white." There, that's MY definition of "redneck." It has nothing to do with skin color, and everything to do with attitudes.
If it is not acceptable to use the 'n' word to describe blacks, or the 's' word to describe hispanics, or the 'c' word to describe orientals, why is it acceptable to call white people 'rednecks' when it is clearly a racial and a social slur?
Sure I can. If you can't, that's your racial problem, not mine.
Redneck means (to you and others) low class, uneducated white people.
You're confusing me with a racist, obviously. Sorry, but I refuse to play your little game.
You see, I (unlike you and your ilk,) refuse to see the world in terms of "black vs white" or "hispanic vs white", etc. In my view (and trust me, I am far from the only one who sees it this way,) being a Redneck has nothing to do with your skin color, and a lot to do with your attitudes towards life. There ARE black rednecks...witness New Orleans post-Katrina. There ARE hispanic rednecks...just go to L.A. or most cities on the border with Mexico. Also, take my native Puerto Rico...vast amounts of rednecks there; and I should know. There are Muslim rednecks...I'd can easily lump a vast majority of them (including CAIR, Calypso Louie Farrakhan and many others) into the redneck category. Ignorance is not particular to any one race.
Again, a redneck (as I see it,) is someone who does stupid things and acts as if it's something to be proud of.
And, may I add, you're doing very little to acquit yourself from being considered a redneck.
Words, in and of themselves, have no meaning, only the meaning we attach to them. We have allowed the Left to take over the meaning of words, so that now, words that have traditionally been used colloquialy (sp) have become "forbidden" words. A major factor in turning simple words into insults is the tendency of folks to be offended all-too-quickly (again, courtesy of the Left.)
You want to be offended by the use of the word "redneck" as a synonym for "ignorant?" Go ahead. Do me a favor and leave me out of your hang-ups.
BTW, you want to call me "spic"? Do you really think I would take offense at that? Go ahead.
Well, good to know we can go back to the friendly spot :)
And a Happy New Year to you, my FRiend.
Of course we are FRiends! Happy New Year to you!
Read somewhere that a redneck was a farmer whose neck was exposed to the sun from plowing. You held the reins in a loop around your neck. Is true have seen it done.

I've not only seen it done, I've done it. I am not the one who said, "define redneck", I replied to that post and said, "define influence while you are at it". Go back to post no. 4 and you will see why I said, "define influence".
