It's not a college prank to leak classified information concerning a serious issue. Yet the United States secret detail is reported on the front page of the New York Times while the secret detail of al-Qaeda remains in the private entries of the Islamic killers international.
Once they find the individual who leaked classified information regarding the President authorizing secret government wiretap networks, he should be sent to court, then to jail.
The New York Times, having reported the data, must disclose the leaker.
US President George W. Bush has called the leak a "shameful act." It is that and more.
All Americans' security has been breached because of that leaker. Further, whoever gave out the secret information has crossed the lines of propriety regarding the Chief Executive.
The Justice Department should receive all the assistance it needs in order to bring the matter to light. The President acted within his constitutional powers. The leaker acted within his indiscretion.
Now the National Security Agency (NSA) has requested the investigation by the Justice Department. May no obstacle get in the way of a thorough investigation. Yet liberal obstacles will loom largely, slowing down America's safety program and opening windows and doors to Islamic fanatics on the kill.
The President set in motion the NSA monitoring telephones and Internet networking for the security of the United States.
As one government official put it, the monitoring was not intended to check on teen conversations on cellphones. It was geared to protect the American republic.
Mr. Bush and aides restricted their eavesdropping to al-Qaeda ties. America is at war, according to the President. Therefore, such measures must be operative. In other words, it is not "nation as usual." It is "nation under attack."
Sleeper cells pepper the country. Four thousand Muslim web sites teach hate and murder. There are clerics in mosques who instruct their devotees on how to sabotage America.
One American woman, not a Muslim, attended a mosque where a public meeting was advertised. The subject was learning more about Islam.
She arrived an hour early. She was instructed by the cleric to take a seat in the back of the mosque, making herself comfortable. However, what he did not know was that she understood Arabic.
She then sat, listening to the cleric instruct the Muslim males gathered for a secret meeting in how to sabotage America.
She remained for the next hour's public meeting, not letting on of course what she had learned during the pre-public session as the cleric instructed his own in how to undo the republic.
Yet there are those so-called human rights groups and liberal politicians as well as liberal media who protest Mr. Bush's safeguards to protect the country. This is exceptionally foolhardy in that such liberal voices are plotting their own demise by the Islamic killers international who plan on Islam world rule. The latter plan on killing all non-Muslims or making them slaves of Muslims.
What the liberals cannot seem to understand that we are in fact in a "war on terror." It is not a romp in the sun. We are fighting a fanatic cultic global plan to kill and maim in the name of the Koran's Allah. These adherents are willing to sacrifice their own lives and the lives of fellow Muslims to see through their bloody goals.
Of course one would expect the American Civil Liberties Union to attack the President by calling for special counsel to investigate the President.
What has the ACLU done to investigate the Islamic enemy working feverishly to topple our democracy? As the ACLU criticized the Justice Department this week, what did the ACLU do to criticize the Muslim murderers global?
By the liberal quotients warring against the President and patriots of America, they themselves have become a legion to the enemy. They have joined the war on the other side. They have become members of the coalition out to disband our liberties.
Reuters reports that the surveillance program was limited in focus and key congressional leadership was informed of the procedure.
Logic would conclude that Mr. Bush should monitor international telephone networks and electronic mail of those suspected to have alliances with al-Qaeda.
Media reported at the close of this week that Mr. Bush was "angry" because of the leak. Not only was Mr. Bush angry but every American prizing his and her safety was angry.
The only ones not patriotically angry are the liberal politicians, media and Muslim murderers global.
There is no patriotic reason why America's energies now should be sidelined in an investigation of the President and the NSA. Once again, the enemy rejoices at the loss of energy redirected.
Yes, media reports that the government was also monitoring homes and work sites as well as mosques of Muslims in six major American cities. Why not? Increase the number of cities. Increase the monitoring.
The Chief Executive has stated forthrightly, and correctly, that the monitoring is within the Constitution's war powers provision as well as a resolution by Congress after the September 11, 2001, attacks on America.
And the Republican Congress should be out there beating this drum day and night.
Hey Republicans: Don't depend on Spector to push this through. Americans are highly pissed - now use that like you have spines or we'll find some Republicans who will.
One massive, dirty-bomb set-off at a critical link in our power-grid could make New England about as productive as the Gaza Strip.
Ckucky Skruumer has already used the word "whistleblower" about 20 times in the last 3 days...
"he should be sent to court, then to jail."
No he or she should be stood up against the nearest concrete wall and machine gunned to death.
How is the New Yuck Times not responsible for printing classified information? Isn't there some legal recourse that can be taken against it?
The phrase "Loose Lips Sink Ships" should be brought back.
It seems that the dimwitcrats and their accomplices in the lame stream press are willing to sink the boat to bring down the captain.
I dont look for the New York Times to out anyone.
I dont look for this leaker to be found.
I do look for this to happen again.
Its coming from the Hill.
We can look at our Liberal politicians, hear their rhetoric and tell which side they are on.
Its not ours.
This was posted back on December 23, 2003. Some interesting names pop up, one is Christopher Mellon who now works on the Advisory Board of Viseon, a communications company. Another name that seems at the very heart of the leak is of course, Jay Rockefeller. Was this then the start of the leaks that threaten America's security?
Is this any worse than Eagleberger walking down the hallways of Congress with terrorism-related secret documents shoved down his pants?
You mean Burg(l)er, Clinton's National Security Advisor. Eagleburger did NOT steal classified documents from the National Archives -- Sandy (pants) Burger did that.
-No he or she should be stood up against the nearest concrete wall and machine gunned to death.-
I think we should use a bow and arrow for this one.
Nah, I prefer to set them in the path of African Army Ants.
Absolutely. Grab these clowns by their throats and lay down the law: give up these treasonous felons or YOU do their time. End of Conversation.
Its not enough to declare anyone or oneself a whistleblower..! There is a process to go through in order to be declared a whistle blower and its through the US Office of the Inspector General. Whistleblower disclosures are never sanctioned to outside agents, including and especially the Press. Chucky should know better..!
You must be talking about the treasonous revelations by Robert Novak, Lewis "Scooter" Libby and others in the Bush Administration, disclosing that Valerie Plame was an undercover CIA agent. The treasonous Bush Administration leakers are not covered by any whistleblower statute.
T R E A S O N.....pure and simple.....
HNY
Surely you jest
"And the Republican Congress should be out there beating this drum day and night."
Problem is- the Republican Congress, is very silent on this right now. The only Republican we seen mentioned right now is- Arlen Specter. Over and over and over again- all we hear from the media about what the Republicans think- is that Specter is demanding an investigation. Where is everyone else?
Where the hell are the Republicans?
It's time to start hammering our Republican representatives- they must get out and start fighting for Americans.
I am emailing my congressman
Eagleberger????
WHAT are you taling about? You Sandy Berger?
From where I sit it would seem that treasonist acts have been and continue to be comitted. Am I wrong? If I am wrong I would like to know where the flaw in my thinking is.
Couldn't these papers and magazines that are printing this stuff be shut down? I'm all for free speech, but when these publications abuse their first amendment rights by printing secret govenrnment counter terrorist ops, then they should be shut down and their editors and reporters thrown under the jail. No?
What have you got against a good rope?
"What have you got against a good rope?"
Living in a state where the Rope was commonly used against Evil Doers... Not a thing.
I agree in everything you posted. Everything you said could and should be used against those who leak this information, AND those who print it, in a time of War
Unfortunately, Constitutionally speaking.. we are not at war.
There has been no Declaration of War.
So there has to be an official declaration of war in order for the rules to apply? I thought that disclosure of and printing classified information was a crime reguardless.
Yes it is against the law, but Treason is a different matter. Sorry, should have specified that.
These people are traitors to their country and deserve a traitors punishment.
I agree with you completely. It feels Treasonous to me as well, and in the case of a Congressionally Declared War, it probably would be.
However, the Cowards in Washington District of Criminals did not give us that. They abrogated their responsibility so that they could continue to "fiddle while rome burns".
At first it seems so extreme when you call it treason, but that's what it really is. It sounds extreme because the very idea of working for our nations defeat, in order to gain domestic political advantage is so hard to believe.
When you think back about the Clinton/Lewinsky affair, isn't it unbelievable that the President of the United States could cheat on his wife in the oval office and not resign in disgrace.
<< And the Republican Congress should be out there beating this drum day and night. >>
Yair.
Right.
If only there was a "Republican" congress.
OK, so it is just a criminal act. Where the hell are the Republicans and right minded democrats condeming the outing of our covert ops?
The silence is deafening from both sides. I'm starting to fear for the safety of my family. (again)
This current batch of politicians just don't seem to get it.
What is more astounding is that his party condoned it and defended him.
The older I get the more the democrats look like the communist parties of old. You know, the "Party" first, all else second.
Hard to say why it's taking so long to get this handled. However, as far as the politicians are concerned, they are not worried about your family's safety. They are not (for the most part) worried about our country.
They are only worried about getting re-elected and how much money they can steal from you in Taxes.
Otherwise, we would have had a Declaration of War, Sept 12th, 2001.
What's the Solution? Right now I don't know. But it can't hurt to call your congress critter daily and rake his/her butt over the coals until we do find the perps.
IIRC the courts have ruled that what Congressed passed was the functional equivalent, there being no formal set of rules for what is required in a Congressional Declaration of War. That said, it would have saved a hell of a lot of trouble had they used the "W" word in what they passed, even with all the problems of "W" against what? Jefferson got a Declaration of against the nebulous Barbary Pirates. If was good enough for our 3rd President, 1st Secretary of State and the chief author of the Declaration of Independence it is good enough for today. It would be a lot harder for the local members of the axis of weasels to argue we're not at "war" when they are on the record as having voted for "war" instead of something they can muddle up. They probably wouldn't have gotten as many votes for the resolution had they added the "W" word, but had Bush insisted on such I doubt it would have failed. NY would have tarred and feathered Schumer and HRC had they voted against it. Instead they weren't forced to choose sides in a meaningful way.
Leaking classified information that gives aid and comfort to the enemy is treason. Tokyo Rose was tried for treason for saying much the same thing the Times says now about a war... This is treason and should be dealth with accordingly.
And that would eliminate about half, or more, of American socialists. The leftists/socialists have just aided the terrorists and helped to make that dirty nuke scenario more possible, and ergo closer to some day being a reality. It's really true. Leftists ARE their own worst enemy. Of course, the chances are just as good that a dirty nuke scenario would be coordinated in multiple areas of the country. And unfortunately, many innocent non-leftists would die as well.
We really have to get the sob(s) that's leaking this stuff to the lamestream media.....before it really is too late for all of us.
"One massive, dirty-bomb set-off at a critical link in our power-grid could make New England about as productive as the Gaza Strip."
Anyone seen any details on this. I'm thinking it would make very interesting reading.
Funny that I don't recall reading or seeing anything about it in the Old Media.
That's not required. Treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution. That definition is:
Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
Art III. Section 3.
Now there's nothing in there that says the US must be in a declared state of war, or even an undeclared one. The only requirement is the accused must make war on the US, or that the US has enemies that the accused gives aid and comfort to.
It seems to me that the later conditions have been met in this instance. All we lack is an accused. But that will come
Plame's employment status at the CIA was no more than "Confidential" information at best since she drove to work everyday at the CIA... as far as that goes, she might even of had some sort of CIA parking pass/sticker in her car. Nation Security information is usually Secret/TopSecret/CodeWord stuff... and it's disclosure is several orders of magnitude worse than an article about some loser the BadGuys already know about.
Against who?
Well of course they don't. They reject the whole premise, and still think fighting Al Qaeda is a job for Interpol. They also still think Bush is just making this whole "war" thing up as a scheme to reward Halliburton. That's why you can't really discuss it with them. Until a couple more 9/11-type attacks happen, they won't take it seriously - an example of how Bush's success in staving off those attacks has paradoxically ended up doing him political harm.
She wasn't.
You're missing my point.
I agree it's Treason, however, there is the distinct possibility that nobody has been arrested or tried for it because of a Lack of a Declaration of War. That is still Congress's responsibility and they need to pony up and make the Declaration Formal.
Eliminates alot of guess work, but that's my opinion.
Afghanistan for one.
They were not nearly so nebulous as today's terrorists. The principates of Tripoli, Algiers, Morocco, and Tunis was who the declaration was against. The Barbary Pirates were probably mis-named, "Privateers" would be closer. They were acting with the blessings and protection of the various local governments Other than Afghanistan, the terrorists do not rule any countries, and in fact they didn't rule Afghanistan either, but were something more than mere "Guests".
