FREMONT, Calif. (AP) -- A pack of angry Chihuahuas attacked a police officer who was escorting a teenager home after a traffic stop, authorities said.
The officer suffered minor injuries, including bites to his ankle, Detective Bill Veteran said.
The five Chihuahuas escaped the 17-year-old boy's home and rushed the officer in the doorway Thursday, authorities said. The teenager had been detained after the traffic incident.
The officer was treated at a hospital and returned to work less than two hours later.

For Fresno, 2006 could be the year of the dog. The animal is on the minds of several city officials determined to better protect residents from dangerous dogs and protect dogs from vicious owners.
This month, the City Council will consider stricter leash laws, new licensing fees and spay and neuter ordinances. There also is a movement in City Hall to crack down on dog owners who abuse their animals or train them to be overly aggressive.
Sevag Tateosian, Council Member Tom Boyajian's assistant, is leading an effort to encourage Fresnans to report owners who instill viciousness in their dogs using cruel methods.
Before Tateosian was given his Chihuahua puppy four months ago, he already had been given plenty of advice on how to train a ferocious guard dog: Hit the puppy with raw chicken bones, feed it gunpowder or encourage it to attack "bait animals," including kittens or smaller dogs. Tateosian was appalled by what he had heard and began thinking of ways to root out people who follow such advice.
Poodles are poof dogs. Chihuahuas are bull dogs in tiny bodies. Ever notice their names...Goliath, killer, Rambo.....
When Chihuahuas attack.
