Clinton-Approved Iranian Arms Transfers Help Turn Bosnia into Militant Islamic Base
US Senate ^ | January 16, 1997 | US Senate

Posted on 01/03/2006 5:55:20 AM PST by kronos77

The Militant Islamic Network

The House Subcommittee report also concluded (page 2): "The Administration's Iranian green light policy gave Iran an unprecedented foothold in Europe and has recklessly endangered American lives and US strategic interests." Further --

" . . . The Iranian presence and influence [in Bosnia] jumped radically in the months following the green light. Iranian elements infiltrated the Bosnian government and established close ties with the current leadership in Bosnia and the next generation of leaders. Iranian Revolutionary Guards accompanied Iranian weapons into Bosnia and soon were integrated in the Bosnian military structure from top to bottom as well as operating in independent units throughout Bosnia. The Iranian intelligence service [VEVAK] ran wild through the area developing intelligence networks, setting up terrorist support systems, recruiting terrorist 'sleeper' agents and agents of influence, and insinuating itself with the Bosnian political leadership to a remarkable degree. The Iranians effectively annexed large portions of the Bosnian security apparatus [known as the Agency for Information and Documentation (AID)] to act as their intelligence and terrorist surrogates. This extended to the point of jointly planning terrorist activities. The Iranian embassy became the largest in Bosnia and its officers were given unparalleled privileges and access at every level of the Bosnian government." (page 201)

Predictably, as soon as the November 1996 election was safely behind him, President Clinton announced that approximately 8,500 U.S. troops would be remaining for another 18 months as part of a restructured and scaled down contingent, the "stabilization force" (SFOR), officially established on December 20, 1996.

Are our Military still wearing the UN blue beret or helmet?

Unfortunately for you, the Bosnians have proven much better allies than the Serbs, and are with us in Iraq.

Come to think of it, I believe the only ex-Yugoslav State that hasn't pitched in for either Afghanistan or Iraq is Serbia and Montenegro.

Ah well, you know how it is, you're either with us, or against us, and talk is cheap.

Unfortunatly for you Hoplite, Serbian "Red berre`s" special forces are in Iraq as sequrity.
Serbioa offered battalion of spetial forces back in 2003, but USA, did not responded.

Serbia`s offer is enormous concidering that USA bombed Serbia over same Muslims that are killing Americans now.

What Serbs there are in Iraq are there as private contractors hired out of Sarajevo based security firms, so their presence doesn't really do much for your position.

As to Serbia's offer, the reason we didn't respond is because Serbia still doesn't have civilian control over its military, which is still staffed by war criminals and their supporters. So the offer was meaningless, and not worthy of our consideration.

Until Serbia takes out its trash, it can stay in the doghouse as far as we're concerned.

Uh-huh.

If the civilians control the military, then we'll just consider the government to be fully complicit in keeping Mladic from his date in the Hague and reimpose trade sanctions on Serbia until it sees fit to get with the program.

Furthermore, we'll take under consideration Serbia's lack of cooperation with the ICTY in the upcoming Kosovo status talks.

Oh, wait. We're already doing that.

Already read it.

Now how's about you reading the daily news and figuring out what the present Republican led Senate is doing in regards to both Bosnia and Serbia?

The Serbian effort to tie their interests to those of the Republican party never stood a chance, regardless of how much animosity there was towards Clinton and his policies.

What the rooster fails to mention is that the "Bosnian" unit is mostly comprised of Serbs and Croats who only wear a "Bosnian" uniform because of what Paddy Pantsdown will do to their families if they don't support the fiction that is "Bosnia."

Subtract the Serbs and Croats from the equation and you'll be left with a couple of guys who are more familiar with building IED's than they are at disarming them.

Serbia was doing an excellent job of taking out its trash until Bill Clinton bombed them. Now the trash runs Kosovo and burns Christian churches as its primary function.

But this is only a temporary situation as peace and justice will return to Kosovo alongside the Serb Army.

Published: October 4, 2003

Look, enough of this "Serbs to Afghanistan" garbage.

Been there, done that.

Suffice to say, our conditions, foremost being the vetting of offered troops for war criminals, were too much for the Serbian Army to bear.

So they stayed home, where they can cause the least amount of trouble.

No....like someone said, the Serbs are too busy trying to protect themselves from the Albanian extremist we supported and are supporting. We will go back to the Afghanistan garbage..and, we will go back to the WWII, where the Serbs helped our service men where the Kosovar Albanians formed an SS Unit murdering thousands of Slavs. We will revisit complete fabrications on our invasion of Bosnia to Kosovo and the complete disregard and lack of memory of most All Americans of the lies told by the Clinton Administration. Now, you will ask, what does that have to do with now?

I will tell you, it' means we are still in Kosovo wasting money, but making money for the Defense contractors, setting up our watchful eye on the pipeline, and allowing Serbs to be murdered, churches burned, and the Albanians that want a normal life is getting screwed and they don't even know it yet.

The Serbs are busy taking care of their own...what is the Hague doing? I would say corrupting the UN money Pot and drinking a lot of coffee and killin a lot of trees....that is all and nothing more. Oh by the way....you were right. There is proof of Evolution. The missing links are on the ICTY investigating committee or whatever.......Soorrry for doubting your religious and scientific knowledge....

Just for the record, can you provide a source for your claim?

All I can find is "requests" for that vetting by groups like the one that you work for.

That and a claim by other leftist that some 500 Serbs are working for the Americans in Afghanistan.

Hay Lukasz, going to defend the Bosniak Muslims again against the Orthodox Serbs?

As I wrote many times I’m neutral in Balkans. All I really want from my Slavic brothers the Serbs, Bosniaks and the rest of temporary quarreled family, that they should leave in peace and rethink what is the real reason why they are fighting each other. And the real reason is the f… third side, NON-SLAVIC foreign agents like YOU who provoked this whole mess (exactly in the same primitive way as you try to provoke the Serbs from this forum against myself). So as you know very well, we Poles usually write what we really thinks and I really think that you should stop your disgusting provocations and STFU, especially if you claim that YOU ARE NOT A SLAV!

Congressional Hearning, March 17, 2004 "The Current Situation in Serbia"

Representative Doug Bereuter, Nebraska:

And the second question I would ask is related to the previous government's promise to send Serbian peacekeepers to Afghanistan. Is that likely to be also reiterated by the current government, and what is the United States Government's position on Serbian peacekeepers in Afghanistan?

Kathleen Stephens, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, U.S. Department of State:

On your second question, if that is all right, again, last July, under the previous government, when the Prime Minister visited, he proposed to Secretary Powell and to others with whom he met that Serbia-Montenegro participate in international peacekeeping operations, particularly in connection with the global war on terrorism. Secretary Powell welcomed that offer and welcomed the notion that we could begin consultations on whether or not it would be possible to help Serbia-Montenegro form a group of qualified, fully vetted, professional, suitable troops to perform a mission somewhere in the global war on terrorism. And in the course of these consultations, we identified a potential, joining the mission that NATO has taken responsibility for in Afghanistan, as a very likely one.

The above is the relevant portion of the hearing, and the bolded emphasis mine - the full hearing can be found in the link at the top of this post.

If you prefer to believe that Serbian troops are unqualified, unprofessional, or unsuitable, and therefore unique amongst their regional peers, then this is as far as I go on the subject.
