On January 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. (PST) the Rose Bowl Game will host the BCS National Championship, between USC and Texas once again showcasing the best of collegiate football in "The Granddaddy of Them All."® The Rose Bowl will be broadcast exclusively on ABC and on ESPN radio.
Is it starting?
I'm calling live trhread for the November elections.
In about 20 hours from now...
No, it starts in 21 hours, but if any Freepers are attending, be sure to note that the golf course parking lots will be CLOSED due to the heavy rains this weekend, reducing parking availability big time.
Pasadena PD will stack park four lanes on the streets surround the stadium, so take a bus, shuttle or walk to the stadium if possible. It will take hours to leave the event if stuck in that parking.
Grammy Award winner Leann Rimes will perform the National Anthem and Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day OConnor will toss the coin as part of her Grand Marshal duties
Who:
Grammy Award winner Leann Rimes to perform the National Anthem before the Rose Bowl Game National Championship between USC and Texas.
The United States Air Force is proud to represent our nations Armed Forces with a fitting salute to all Americans at home and serving abroad. The Air Force Academys Wings of Blue parachute team and the Cadet Chorale singers will astound viewers with electrifying performances.
The Air Force salute continues with an amazing flyover by the B1-B Lancer which is home based at the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas.
The pre-game festivities culminate with the coin toss by the 2006 Tournament of Roses Grand Marshal, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day OConnor all leading up to the thrilling kickoff of the Rose Bowl Game National Championship.

Parlay that with the over (+/- 69.5).
Lots of points to be scored.

I want to pull for Matt Brown, but he did such a MISERABLE job when he was at Carolina.
I never take the over on bowl games just because the kids are so wired they NEVER play like they do during the season.
I'll take the over on Regie Bush at 150 yards tho...
Texas:2 or > turnovers = USC win
Texas:1 or < turnovers = Texas win
D/N/T 34 straight wins, 2 championships and 2 Heisman winners...
Anybody know if there is a Keith Jackson Drinking Game?
If not, we have plenty of time to make one! :)
I say one shot for a "Nellie", two shots for a "Hoooooooooooooold everything", and one shot for every minute before 0:00 of the 4th quarter that Jackson calls the game "over".
Good point. I wonder what the history is with the over/under in bowl games in general.
I can remember some big points put up in big bowl games but I'm sure the o/u is always large with those.
BTW, I wouldn't wager against Texas tomorrow. They have seen all the press that USC is getting (i.e., ESPN's ridiculous program comparing USC to historical programs) and will be even more motivated than they would have.
Plus, they are just a damn good football team getting a hellava lot of points (7-8?).
A great broadcaster who will undoubtedly die while calling a game...
Be a good game, I think. I give the edge to experience (who better to handle media pressure than the guys who live it 5 miles from Hollywood every day?)
USC hasn't played anyone outside of a decent Notre Dame team. Notre Dame deserves great credit for their season, but don't have serious speed yet.
How does USC expect to shut down Texas given the yards they have allowed and Texas' proficient running and passing games. Texas can probably slow USC down with its solid, quick defense, while USC may have trouble doing the same. Also, Texas does not turn the ball over a lot. Young has grown up this year.
I love my buckeyes, but I'll be rooting for Texas in this one.
Good...that is TWO of us...LOL
groan....
Good thing academics don't count, otherwise it would be a Longhorn/Wolverine match up!
On to Conquest, Trojans. UT has a massive inferiority complex, and for good reason. Great team, no doubt, but outclassed.
Any team that had John McKay as a coach must have problems, anyway! (Just ask the Buccaneers!)
If Texas wins tomorrow night...I will donate an extra $50 to the Freepathon...
Cool Karl.
Of course in my opinion, it's only a great Rose Bowl ifis playing.
You need one also for "FUMBLE!!!"
In your dreams, Texas took care of Ohio State earlier this year, so Dream On
HOOK'EM HORNS
Keith's an undisputed national treasure.
He well-deserves a drinking game!
Special teams will win the game for Texas, This year Texas has 6 blocked punts and two returned for TDs.
Remember the name-Romance Taylor
And, it isn't the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is held on January first, unless january first is a sunday, in which case it is held on the second -- same day as the Rose Parade.
There was a Parade on Monday, but no game -- they cancelled the Rose Bowl this year.
In her dreams? The Rose Bowl was fantastic before the interlopers were invited in. 10,000 unsold seats last year.
GO, REGGIE BUSH!!!!!!!
Enjoy the moment while you have it. :-)
Uhm... USC played FOUR ranked teams this year, UT two...
Agreed. I HATE the new BCS format. The Rose Bowl was our chance to show fly-over country who REALLY knew how to play football...
I hope that the field goal kickers for Texas and USC...are watching this Orange Bowl..
They may not sleep a wink tonight...LOL
LOL...what do you mean? Texas and USC won't need to kick Field goals. Their punters might not need to show up tomorrow, either! ;) Enjoy the game tomorrow--hoping it's a good one. As exciting as, but better played than, the Orange Bowl.
