My perspective on the election

Once again we face an election full of blunder and bluster while the nation slowly but relentlessly drifts away from meaning and purpose. As I see it, this follows the pattern set out by the prophet Isaiah.
Let me put it as bluntly as I can. Go to Chapter One of the book of Isaiah, part of which is read on the first Monday of Advent:
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken: Sons have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its owner, and the ass its masters crib; but Israel does not know, my people does not understand. They have forsaken the Lord
they are utterly estranged. The whole head is sick and the whole heart faint
If you would like to know what happened to the apostate Israelites, read up on the history of Isaiahs time.
Canada, like Western Europe, is trashing its intellectual and spiritual heritage. Neither faith nor reason is admired; instead, pleasure, health and comfort have become the nations preoccupation. As family morals are assaulted, hedonism advances and serious Christianity is seen as the one enemy that needs to be neutralized.
Politics reflects the underlying movements much as a tsunami reflects the earthquake which sets it off. Since the mid-nineteen-sixties, the Liberal party has made itself the tool of progressivism and permissiveness. It has so successfully seduced the ever more affluent populace that media pundits today cannot envisage any other party platform.
On the first day of the election, Conservative leader Stephen Harper announced that he would revisit the same-sex legislation. I sent him the following e-mail:
Dear Mr. Harper,
Thank you for firing a crucial opening shot across the bow of the sinking Liberal ship by declaring your willingness to let MPs overthrow the odious same-sex marriage legislation should you become prime minister. This indeed would be for the benefit of all Canada.
May I suggest you also come out against euthanasia? The Liberals intend to open that Pandoras box as soon as, and if, they return. The killing of the old, the sick and the disabled would complete a process begun by them when they made the killing of the unborn legal in 1969. We already are experiencing the economic and demographic fallouts of this fallacy through, for example, our current skills shortage and need for more immigration to prop up a wilfully defective birth rate.
You would strengthen your position even further if you would indicate that you personally believe it necessary to bring to a halt all legalized immorality.
Do I believe that Mr. Harper is the saviour of Canada? No, I do not. However, his victory may bring an initial respite from the current headlong rush towards moral, political, and social disaster and an opportunity to clear out the Liberal stranglehold on the Ottawa civil service.
The Liberal party is whatever Paul Martin says it is. And Martin is a Catholic run amok who has represented himself as a Christian when, in fact, he is intellectually incoherent; and as Bishop Fred Henry has said, he is a scandal to the Catholic community. His arrogant feels free to call good that which is evil. Moral integrity and a sense of religious tradition and purpose will not come from him or his Liberals steeped in venality, nor from the New Democratic Party, ideologically anchored in an anti-Christian, socialist-materialist philosophy imposed by a centralized all-knowing bureaucracy.
But it may come from the Conservatives; that is, if we elect a large number of discerning, pro-life candidates who will not readily submit to party controllers, prime ministers coercion, or liberal media bias, but who, instead, will serve the common good based on conserving principles. Fortunately, most of the cloned Red Tories have departed and good riddance it is.
Christians, meanwhile, should shake off timidity. Do not allow yourself to be marginalized. Catholics are not, and have never been, right-wing. The Churchs great tradition of social justice teaching far surpasses what Liberal pragmatism and socialist rigid-mindedness have to offer. Conservatives should adopt it, including its core principle, the sanctity of human life.
To end abortion is not on the Tory program but it should be. Canadas depopulation crisis is upon us. More importantly, nothing will turn away the wrath of God as illustrated by Isaiah unless we first stop the brutal killing of the innocent in our sanitized hospitals.

Amen Father!
wades in? how deep is the water? :)
LOL, Who needs faith and reason when you can have raw emotion and immaturity??
Ahhhhhhhhh! the Catholics are getting afraid in the shower to bend over and pick up the soap after Martins successful campaign to allow Gay Marriage in Canada.
Vote out the Liberals !!!!!
Well said.
I don't think it's water he is wading into...
I tend to define liberalism as raw emotion combined with immaturity.
LOL, thats what FRiends are for!
A tantrum, in other words?
"............wades in...............", you say???
The good padre must have some time in the military, 'cause the last time I heard a butt-chewing like this, the speaker had big red chevrons and stripes running solid from his shoulder to his knuckles.
Those few sincere, practicing Catholics left to the libs have probably all gone to the nearest ER to check for brimstone burns and a time estimate for the ringing in their ears to go away.
Wow!
Y'All in Canada know that the Catholic vote is the cornerstone of the Liberal Party. Be it French, Italian, or recent immigrant. The Italians LOVE the Liberal Party. Just love 'em. Without the Mediterranean Catholic vote the Liberals are toast.
For Americans, think of folks who loved Kennedy. Thats who supports the Liberals in Canada, and we have more of them in Ontario than anywhere.
WoW!
