U.S. Navy Directive 16134 [Inappropriate T-Shirts]
email

Posted on 01/05/2006 3:02:49 PM PST by SandRat

The Navy (Marine Corps) never was a collection of sensitive liberals. HUOOA!!!

Subject: U.S. Navy Directive 16134

The following directive was issued by the commanding officer of a naval installation somewhere in the Middle East, and it was obviously directed at the Marines.

To: All Commands
Subject: Inappropriate T-Shirts
Ref: ComMidEastFor Inst 16134//24 K

  1. All commanders promulgate upon receipt.

  2. The following T-shirts are no longer to be worn on or off base by any military or civilian personnel serving in the Middle East:

"Eat Pork Or Die" [both English and Arabic versions]

"Shrine Busters" [Various. Show burning minarets or bomb/artillery shells impacting Islamic shrines. Some with unit logos.]

"Napalm, Sticks Like Crazy" [Both English and Arabic versions]

"Goat - it isn't just for breakfast any more." [Both English and Arabic versions]

"The road to Paradise begins with me." [Mostly Arabic versions but some in English. Some show sniper scope cross-hairs]

"Guns don't kill people. I kill people." [Both Arabic and English versions]

"Pork. The other white meat." [Arabic version]

"Infidel" [English, Arabic and other coalition force languages.]

  3. The above T-shirts are to be removed from Post Exchanges upon receipt of this directive.

  4. The following signs are to be removed upon receipt of this message:

"Islamic Religious Services Will Be Held at the Firing Range At 0800 Daily."

"Do we really need 'smart bombs' to drop on these dumb bastards?"

  5. All commands are instructed to implement sensitivity training upon receipt.

You had me going until:

"The above T-shirts are to be removed from Post Exchanges upon receipt of this directive. "

The Navy and Marine Corps do not have "Post Exchanges." They have NEXs or Navy Exchanges.

Has to be a joke. The 16000 series SSIC code is wrong for uniform regs; it would be in the 1020 series (if memory serves... its' been awhile.)

Good, though!

I noticed they don't have my "Koran, now in two-ply" T-Shirt on the list, so I'm safe.

Well, that, and I'm not in the Army anymore.

How do you give a Marine "sensitivity" training?

At full voice, and with a baseball bat:

"YOU (bop) WILL (bop) BELAY (bop) THAT (bop) FREAKIN' (bop) CRAP!"

You must also outrank the recipient and outmass him, as well. :-P

I seem to remember that someone very, very high up in the chain of command believes, and has publicly stated whenever the topic comes up, that Islam is the Religion of Peace. Maybe he thinks these t-shirts are not compassionate.

They mean in Kuwait or Qatar, places that when you go off-base you war civvies.

Most of the bases in theatre are army bases, hence PX. Everyone shops at these; Italians, Polish, Estonians, South Koreans, and any other coalition troops that are there.

I am not so sure about this being directed mainly toward Marines. I know a lot of Army/Navy/Air Force linguists also would jump at the chance to wear these. Some SEALs might like these too.
