"So you think the slaves would have rather continued to work for free vs earning a paycheck? You can't be that ignorant. Reasoning like that would make Saddam proud."
Go back and study up on carpetbaggers. Plenty of former slaves had no interest in the 'freedom' Lincoln offered. You must remember that the parties have switched platforms since then!
I will go back and source this again for you and send it via p.m. And no, I am not ignorant. I'm an AKA alum, thank you.
Ashley needs to get a
"Happy Birthday Robert E. Lee"
T-shirt in time for his birthday on Jan 19th.
You're kidding right? Do you even know the definition of "slave"?
Those grand colors don't always ask nicely where they can be planted!
I suppose the purse should be arrested for a possible hate crime.
Tacky - Yes
Evil - No
Lettem keep their silly purses. They aren't hurting anyone. Besides, they'll have a new one in a week, anyway. :P
You're lucky you didn't get the hell out of you, don't mean that as an insult, just saying, down here, people take geneology seriously, especially in the older cities. To say something like that is akin to insulting someones family, cause in fact, by going after their heritage, you are.
I assume you're talking about Watie.
The war between the states. :-)
It was a joke. No such t-shirt exists, as far as I know.
But in the immortal words of the J. Geils Band -- First I look at the purse.
I wonder if the ACLU will take this case up.
Lee was a great general, a man of integrity, and man of character, a devote Christian, beloved by those who served under him, and the most one can say about his "political" leanings, he was a loyal Virginian. Frankly, I consider Lee to be a great American, period.
Cultural Marxism.
It must become forbidden to acknowledge the reality of our history. People must be forced to live a lie, and since people are naturally reluctant to live a lie, they naturally use their ears and eyes to look out and say, "Wait a minute. This isnt true. I can see it isnt true," the power of the state must be put behind the demand to live a lie. That is why ideology invariably creates a totalitarian state.
Second, the cultural Marxism of Political Correctness, like economic Marxism, has a single factor explanation of history. Economic Marxism says that all of history is determined by ownership of means of production. Cultural Marxism, or Political Correctness, says that all history is determined by power, by which groups defined in terms of race, sex, etc., have power over which other groups.
Third, just as in classical economic Marxism certain groups, i.e. workers and peasants, are a priori good, and other groups, i.e., the bourgeoisie and capital owners, are evil. In the cultural Marxism of Political Correctness certain groups are good feminist women, (only feminist women, non-feminist women are deemed not to exist) blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals. These groups are determined to be "victims," and therefore automatically good regardless of what any of them do. Similarly, white males are determined automatically to be evil, thereby becoming the equivalent of the bourgeoisie in economic Marxism.
Fourth, both economic and cultural Marxism rely on expropriation. When the classical Marxists, the communists, took over a country like Russia, they expropriated the bourgeoisie, they took away their property. Similarly, when the cultural Marxists take over a university campus, they expropriate through things like quotas for admissions. When a white student with superior qualifications is denied admittance to a college in favor of a black or Hispanic who isnt as well qualified, the white student is expropriated. And indeed, affirmative action, in our whole society today, is a system of expropriation. White owned companies dont get a contract because the contract is reserved for a company owned by, say, Hispanics or women. So expropriation is a principle tool for both forms of Marxism.
The Origins of Political Correctness
Watie turned up on a FR after the "recent unpleasantries"
Frankly, in 2006, those who sport the Confederate flag on their vehicles or clothing are usually greater Americans than those who take offense at such symbolism.
You must be an OCC fan
They all had an interest in freedom regardless of who offered it. Just as President Bush said last week, "All men desire to be free". You'd have to be a card carrying member of Al Queda to dispute that fact.
In that case, tell him.
