Skip to comments.(Vanity) Brokeback Mountain, a Curious Attendance Story

Did anyone else hear this on the Michael Medved talk radio today?
A man called in, near the end of the hour. He said he had been taken his kids to the theater, and the kids movie they were waiting to see had a very long line. Brokeback Mountain was also showing at that theater. He said he sat near the ticket booth for 35 minutes, as his kids waited in line to buy tickets for their movie.
During that 35 minutes he never heard one person buy a ticket for Brokeback Mountain. However, during that 35 minutes, the SOLD OUT sign came on for Brokeback. Out of curiosity, he went in to the Brokeback theater, and only saw 4 people in there. The theater manager refused to comment when the man questioned him.
Is this how all those theaters are getting such high attendance for Brokeback? Imaginary theater goers?
Perhaps other theater goers can investigate for themselves this weekend.
I can only vouch for the fact that this man called in a related the story as I presented it here, not if its true. Callers can make up stories too. It peaked my interest though.
The American people will not go to see "Bareback Mount" or whatever its called. They're not interested in "Sodomy on the Range".
Well, the libs will do or say ANYTHING to further their perverted causes. This is no exception. The Academy Awards coming up will be disgusting when you look at the perverse themes of the "GREAT WORKS OF ART" that these slobbering lefties are going to put up as the best of the best. (barf bucket please).
they had some union leaders buy some thousands of copies (using the members dues money of course) and the cases of books sits in some warehouse for years.
I smell a plan here.
Like when FortWorthless Jim Wright had the union thugs buy his book to bump up the numbers.
"only saw 4 people in there"
Were they all men? Sitting REAL close? Maybe they bought the show out for privacy.
I was thinking more "Homo on the Range"....
Was Pee Wee Herman one of them?
Remember the Village People had a cowboy ... LOL
You're right. No doubt lots of Union pension fund money is being laundered to Hollyweird to pay for making this abortion of a movie look like a hit.
Give it to the fall and when it comes out on DVD it'll be a "hit" again and will be shown in high schools (dare I add, junior high scools) all across America.
We might go see a movie this weekend (a rare experience).
While I'd rather leave the washroom without washing my hands, I just might walk into the Brokeback theater to see how many are there.
Brokeback Mt is a propaganda strategy. Nothing is beyond the left's perverted imagination, including some fool billionaire buying up all the seats so the film can appear to be doing well at the box office.
YOu have to be careful with stuff like this. A lot of folks today with "fertile" imaginations out there.
Brokeback Mountain, after four weeks:
This week gross: $4,847,443
Cumulative gross: $15,102,697
Probable financial loser, I'd say.
... where the deer and the antelope are gay.....
So in addition to killer surf music Dick Dale wrote gay novellas? Dang. Pipeline indeed. %^)
"The Gay Caballeros"
On New Year's Eve my wife and I saw "Walk the Line". I thought the crowd would be small because the movie has been out for a while, but every seat was full for the next to last show. People will still pay to see a worthwhile movie, and I'm betting this one will draw more Academy nominations than the sheepherder fiasco, which was also playing at the same 30-screen monster theater.
Can they, uh, fudge the box office?
