National Day of Protest OC Register and Personal Accounts (long with pics)
Orange County Register ^

A line of passing motorists -- showing their approval or disapproval with a honk of the horn or the occasional obscene gesture -- divided opposing sides in an ongoing immigration debate in Laguna Beach today.

Dozens from anti-illegal immigration groups like the Minutemen and the California Coalition for Immigration Reform said they came as part of a "Stop the Invasion National Protest Day," which planned protests across 19 states.

Personal Account from Laguna Beach:

The National Day of Protest "Stop The Invasion" rally in Laguna Beach began at 8 am in front of the illegal day labor site on Laguna Canyon Rd.

We arrived right on time and there was already a line of brave patriots. My heart soared as we pulled in and I saw the Stars and Stripes flying high. The good people were stationed across the street from the day labor site where no less than 75 workers congregated. I noticed there were few counter-protesters at this time. One courageous patriot was standing in their midst holding a tall pole with our beautiful flag waving proudly.

As we stepped from our car we were met by a short Hispanic man who immediately ran up to us holding one of those cheap disposable cameras. As he yelled "more rednecks", he stuck the camera in my face and snapped my picture (good thing I was having a good hair day and I smiled nicely).

We joined the group, shook hands, gave hugs, and exchanged introductions with those who came from out of the area. I saw many familiar faces, but many, many new ones. I was thrilled to see my Laguna Beach resident friends in attendance.

As the day went on many more good people joined us, and many more goons came out from under the rocks. By the day's end we actually outnumbered the bad guys 2:1. AMAZING! The good guys were about 50 strong, the bad guys a mere 20.

There was a strong police presence, and they were professional and friendly. Prior to the event I promised my contact I would tell all in our group to be sure not to jaywalk, and we complied, but the goons and the workers ran back and forth across the street all day while the police looked away. At one point the police went across the street to tell our brave patriot he had to stay on our side, but while the police were concerned about one peaceful American with a flag, a group of greasy, gaunt, and pale looking teenagers elbowed their way through our group while telling us to "f off". Hmmmm?

Most of the goons were the usual socialist types. Young, dumb, and bored with life. There were a few who looked to be from the group that disrupted the CM council meeting. I thought I saw "Bennie the Coyote" in the group. Our own Laguna Beach Silly Sally gave us a good show with her umbrella and sign that read "God made booze, God made pot, God bless America". A local Laguna Beach man pulled up and joined us saying he saw our signs and couldn't live with himself if he just drove on by.

I personally noticed only 3 picks ups. One was by a company named Haul Depot. The license on the back of his trailer was "IHAULIT". As he pulled out with a slave we attempted to educate him that he was breaking the law. He didn't care and merely flipped us off and yelled back for us to 'go home'.

All in all the day was peaceful and fun. No confrontations, no violence, no arrests, and no "unwanteds" showing up. The media was out; OCRegister, LATimes, Telemenudo, and some other reporters, but I didn't get their affiliations.

It was a successful rally. Our message was received. The sun was shining, and we were among good friends. All through the morning we kept in touch with Rancho and Lake Forest. After the event two of the groups met up for pizza and some good laughs.

Can't wait for the next one!

I wish to thank some special people:

THANK YOU TO: Jim and Sandy Gilchrist (our heros) The Minutemen Project Barb Coe and the good people of CCIR Lupe Moreno and her lovely family The brave men of the San Diego Minutemen My Dear Dear friends from Laguna Beach (DC) The Laguna Beach PD And all our friends in the fight for America

Lake Forest:

Most of the work in Lake Forest is being done, "off the street" but we did have a protest at this location today.

LA ANSWER Leftist. Guy on the right lives in fear that he may have to learn to operate a lawn mower

Pick up...yeah I hire illegals - so what?

The crazy singing lady from Costa Mesa City Council was there. She mad signs for the illegals; which they could not read and when we told them what they said, they were embarressed and ripped them up and trashed them.

One said "day laborers are exploited" Think she took that one from us!

Long Island:

Success at the Minuteman rally today at the Home Depot on Sunrise Highway in Freeport, Long Island, New York. Television and newspaper reporters were present. Pro-open-border-mafia types did show up to protest the Minuteman, and despite their slinging mud and racist labels, etc., there was no serious verbal confrontation and no physical confrontation at all. Kudos to the Freeport Police Department for showing up in force to keep the peace and keep the open-border mafioso from getting into the Minutemen's faces and provoking a confrontation, which they tried to do.

By the way, we held up a sign that read "Honk for Secure Borders" at the side of the road. At least 50-60 cars and trucks honked at us and gave us thumbs up. In contrast, only 2 cars honked for the wack jobs.

So many people gave us thumbs up, I was worried that we weren't getting to see anyone flip us the bird, but at the end, one poor misguided woman drove by and gave us the middle finger, much to our delight.

Get out there and pound the pavement, brothers and sisters. We have popular support on our side. We need strong showings at every event.

I arrived this morning at 7:15. There were about 10 LEO’s on hand from the Spring Valley police department and the Rockland County sheriff’s office. Eventually there were six of us there to protest the hiring of illegal aliens including Bill Tibbe of Citizens Civil Defense who organized the demonstration as part of the National Invasion Protest. Supporting the illegal invasion were about twenty-four counter-demonstrators. At our location and spread out along Route 59 there were perhaps thirty illegal aliens. This is a big decrease from the number who usually gather. Bill had scouted the area on Wednesday and reported hundreds of illegal aliens – more than he had ever seen before. We figure the police presence discouraged some of them. While there we did not see a single employer stop to hire an illegal alien, also presumably due to the police presence – so our efforts were successful despite our low turnout. Other than ignoring the illegal aliens who were present, law enforcement acted professionally and were very cooperative.

There was also plenty of media present including the Journal News, Channel 12, Channel 17 Public Access, and a student reporter from Rockland County Community College. I am sure the event will receive at least some coverage over the next 24 hours. Here is an article on the event from yesterday’s Journal News: http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060105/UPDATE/601050435/-1/spider

------------------------------------------------------------

Ok folks, this is how it went down in Texas. Out of the dozens that said they were coming, only 10 showed up. 1 of them got scared and left town, and this Woman was literally shaking when she realized that the 3 young men that was sitting beside them at a table were against us. Then she saw the number of adversaries and freaked! Bless her heart. At least she showed and realized that she wasn't willing to take the risk and left. I can't remember what the story was with the other 2 Women. They told me, but I was in the middle of the briefing (with our protestors present) so all I remember is that they were going back to Houston. We had protestors against us at the whataburger that were asking us questions and were against us,so we had to loose them. So we started and arrived late at the Protest site. There were about 150-200 AGAINST us, and about a dozen cops. Only 6 of us were there with signs and the extra person hid with our protestors and videotaped. It was a rush and very dangerous because we were seriously outnumbered!!! But I 'had my boots on', and I was on a mission so we did what we set out to do without a 'hitch'.

There were ALOT of Media there, typical for any Immigration event, many of them were from Telemundo and Univision and Mexican/Hispanic Newspapers. Also 2 or 3 of our main Dallas TV stations were there, along with the Denton, Dallas and Ft. Worth newspapers. I gave more interviews today than I have on all 4 Border Watches the past year, as I usually try to stay away from them best I can but since I was the organizer and there wasn't that many of us to talk to, I had to take my turn.

Our main objective was realized, and it was to: * Bring attention to the issue and the City of Denton's participation to what we consider criminal activity. (aiding and abeiting)!

* Participate in the National Day of Protest across the Nation and represent Texas.

* Slow down the employers from hiring the suspected illegals, and that we did. We saw several vehicles look like they wanted to stop but with all the people, signs and cops, they reconsidered. (Although we did film 4 or 5 picking up workers), you will soon find their pictures and their cars as they picked up workers, on the usual websites!

* Show the workers that are illegal, that we're here and we're watching.

*Network and start to work cohesively with other Minutemen groups in our State to achieve the eventual goal.

Pictures and video will be available soon! *** I will also have a flyer that the Police department passed out, that was written in both English and Spanish telling the participants that no poles or steaks would be allowed and any violent behavior wouldn't be tolerated. (That's great right!, however they didn't give us a copy, only the ones that were against us, and possibly since we arrived late with already approx. 150 people there, maybe they ran out before they got to us? Who knows!) But our 'infiltrator' got a copy from our adversaries!

**Something that I did find interesting, was that when we first arrived, the Police moved us close to the street facing traffic (they said "so the cars can read your signs") but we later realized that they probably had the motive to move us AWAY from the Employers so we couldn't approach them or photograph their cars. We were still able to photograph most of the ones that stopped, although several times cops quickly moved towards the front of the cars to block my view. This happened several times, so I know from the pattern, this was NOT an accident. Because right after I took the picture, I returned to my previous position around the corner, street side and the cop followed me. (And I don't think he was particularly interested in my 'girlish figure'!) ---------------------------------- Interesting events to bring up:

*One of the Officers also interviewed with the local newspaper reporter and told her what City I lived in, from the information on the protest permit application. When she approached me and asked me about it I asked that my exact City/Location not be printed in the Media due to Safety concerns with Family.

**** Promptly at 09:30am, the Officer in charge approached me and told me the time on my permit had expired, and he "wanted to be able to leave" to go to his Daughters cheerleading camp (I think!). We were then 'escorted to our cars', some 2-3 blocks away as soon as the protest permit time was over at 09:30am. BUT OUR ADVERSARIES were allowed to remain on the property and continue their racist ranting.... Interesting!

So, LEGAL Citizens are held to written contracts of time on permits (even though the permit wasn't really necessary due to the 'Day Labor Center' being considered by the City of Denton) a "Public Park." And suspected illegals can hang out there as long as they like, solicit jobs (another crime) and are provided a working water fountain, toilets and a covered area with picnic tables, AT TAX PAYERS EXPENSE.

What's wrong with this picture?

Kudos' to the Texas Minutemen that joined us, and to the Denton Police Department that made sure no one got hurt. There were approx. 12 cops in the area and surrounding areas, and we even got a drive by or two by the Police Chief!

I hope everyone else's Rally had a better turnout, and actually went as well as this did with no injuries or arrests at least while we were there!

Again, I want to thank the Denton Police Department for their participation in keeping us all safe and helping us with our objectives!

REPORT FROM SANTA MONICA, CA

CA Los Angeles County Minuteman Santa Monica, California The turn out of suspected illegal aliens at the protest site was as usual (100 on weekdays and more on weekends). The day laborers spreads out over two city blocks lining both side of the street with a heavier cluster by the gate of Bourget Bros. Hardware on 11th Street between Olympic and Colorado Blvd.

We were a handful of protesters (a mix of Minuteman, SOS and USAForward) supporting the CTCIC’s call for a National Day of Protest. Our action started at 08.00 AM at a nearby staging area where we went over the Minuteman Standard Operating Procedures and the identification of they key documents that we would pass out to day-laborers, the unethical employers and the Media. The protest itself took place from 09.00 to 11.00 AM. At around 09.15 approximately 10 organized hecklers arrived with cardboards which they used to block our signs. They were confrontational and argumentative. Following the MM SOP, none of the National Day of Protest participants interacted with the hecklers in any way. At about the same time four police cars position themselves in order to cover the street in both directions and in addition, one or possibly two police cars circled around every few minutes. At around 09.20 two Media people arrived. A reporter from Gentleman’s Quarterly (GQ) who is doing a detailed report on the Minuteman as a movement and the activities that they are involved in; and a reporter for Santa Monica Daily Press, the local Santa Monica newspaper. At around 09.45 an additional 20 or 25 hecklers arrived in one big group. By that point there were approximately 35 to 35 hecklers total. The hecklers were in their mid to high 20’s in age and two of them in particular where more aggressive and confrontational than the first small group that arrived earlier. At this point we were overwhelmed by hecklers due to their higher numbers. No amount of provocation caused any of the Day of Protest participants to budge or to interact, however a row broke out between the reporter from the Santa Monica Daily Press and the hecklers, resulting in name calling, agitation and threats. The reporter called the police (station) and since the police were already there in number, they got off their cars and quickly descended on the hecklers which put an end to that confrontation without incidents. Because we were overpowered by the number of hecklers we could not free our hands for a moment to take pictures. Two of us held our video cameras and took video but we will not be submitting those at this time (I don’t know how). The newspaper reporter took many pictures and they might be published. If possible I will submit those later. The hecklers had the run of the physical space due to their numbers and they were able to take many pictures. It is theoretically possible that we can get those from their website (Aztlan something). One important thing that happened is that the over 100 day laborers that were there at 09.00 very few remained to be seen. They scrambled out of there maybe to wait us out. We could see many would be pick-up employers slowing down and looking for illegal labor that was not there as usual. At around, 10.45 we had a suffocating tight circle of these hecklers around us. At that time the police came to where we were standing and asked us if there was a problem. As it was uncomfortable but easily manageable we told the police that we had no complaints and that we would soon leave at 11.00 AM. With that said, the police returned to their cars and a few minutes later we picked up our gear and everything else that we had brought with us and left. This was the first time that we protested in Santa Monica (a very liberal city), but from all the positive responses from pedestrians and drive-by traffic, I believe that we got our message across and made a positive impression. To counter-act preposterous racist chants of “Europeans go home” and “Minuteman Racists”, I mentioned to the newspaper reporter that I am a foreign born Hispanic immigrant who had attained his naturalized citizenship legally, that my wife was also and legal immigrant. I mentioned also that I am a candidate for State of California 41st Assembly District which covers Santa Monica. One funny thing that I can add is that the day before, when I went to the police station to describe our activity, the detective read the rubric from the announcement that said, “Stop the Invasion” and he said to me, “Stop the Invasion? Hum, that is something I would support”. His comment took me back, being that we were both in Santa Monica. It shows the issue of border security and the enforcement of immigration law resonates with both liberals and conservatives.

Those bigots are simply unbelievable!

It's amazing how quick they cry "racism" when they are CLEARLY VIOLATING the law! Idiots! My not wanting illegal immigrants INVADING this country doesn't have a thing to do with their skin color. They are breaking the law, this nation's laws and they need to be punished for it. Amazing how they think they are entitled to come into this country UNLAWFULLY, work here, leech off the taxpayers of this country while not paying a dime in taxes here.

Maybe we ought to let them work here under the guest worker program and tax them 75%! Bet they won't find working here so wonderful anymore!

Ut Oh ... "This is our CONTINENT"???

CALLING ALL CANADIAN MINUTEMEN!!! I don't suppose we'll be able to count on Quebec though.

Seriously, you'd think DHS would take interest in Coyotl and his comrades who spout stuff like:

"The realization of the true significance of the six suns is a cultural one and can only be deciphered by our people not the European invaders. To understand our history and culture is to see past the lies that are fed to us. The birds, monkeys, and fish are believed by our people to be the surviving humans of the previous world. These animals are therefore the literal embodiment of our ancestors. Our ancestors said that after the fifth sun set we would live 500 years of darkness without a sun where we would encounter domination and death at the hands of the Popoloc (white invaders); This period will end on December 23, 2012 and the sixth sun will rise bringing with it retribution and re-education as prophecized by Cuauhtemoc. This is part of an ancient prophecy called Tzitzimimee. December 23, 2012 marks the rebuilding of our nation and the birth of the sixth sun. It is on this date that we believe our ancestors will return in a final battle against the popoloc which will send them back into the ocean where they came from. It is on this day that the spirits of our ancestors will return in a massive force that will shake the worlds foundations."

This at http://www.myspace.com/colectivoerror under forum.

Also curious as regards the symbolism on Coyotl's ever-present yellow jacket.

Timing out here to adjust tin foil. ;)

Thank You!!

Your efforts are greatly appriciated by those of us on the border. You are getting press coverage, thanks to the opposition. Last night was our first operation on the border since before Christmas, we had a very uneventful night. The media coverage of ongoing operations on the border is nonexistant.

Thanks to all who tolerated the intolerant actions of the counter protestors, across the country.

You're incorrect. Illegals DO pay taxes of a sort. They purchase beer, wine, hard liquor, meals, and cigarettes..... you know...the essentials. They can't ignore point of sales local taxes. MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars are sent to Mexico and NOT A DIME is being paid for Social Security taxes, State taxes, Federal taxes, and unemployment, for the most part. I'm a Vietnam veteran and I fought under the AMERICAN flag for MY COUNTRY....NOT so hog swilling illegals can suck up our dollars, protest our government, cry "racist' every time American citizens voice an anti illegal opinion or advocate immigration reform. I CERTAINLY didn't offer up my own mortality for the MEXICAN flag being waved and flown in the United States, and the illegal invasion which is destroying our economy and taking over huge portions of our nation, states, cities, and towns. I RESENT people, employers, and governments in this country allowing English and Spanish to become the two major languages.....instead of ENGLISH ONLY! That should be a REQUIREMENT for everything...including owning a business....(although Mexicans illegals care nothing about American laws and they SURE don't care to learn them. THEN, they couldn't pretend to be ignorant of them). My son is a cop. If he stops a few illegals, and they start their "no habla English" routine, he says, "the one wearing brown shoes goes to jail tonight". The ones who look down at their shoes understand and probably speak English.
