WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, AARP issued the following statement in response to remarks made by Harry Belafonte.

"Last year, AARP The Magazine recognized Harry Belafonte for his work in serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1987.

"To our dismay, Mr. Belafonte has made reckless and irresponsible statements about the President of the United States which we neither support nor condone. Mr. Belafonte is entitled to express his own personal views, but AARP does not condone the manner and tone which he has chosen and finds his comments completely unacceptable."

The AARP obviously disagrees with what Belafonte said, and that's what their statement is about.

Is he still their spokesman? He's still UNICEF's. They agree with what he said or he'd be out the door in a heartbeat. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, didn't the AARP support Kerry in '04?

The AARP is anti-American. It's the same as the Democrat (Socialist) Party. They are even featuring Belafonte, who thinks President Bush is a terrorist, on their cover. http://www.aarpmagazine.org/
The Federal Election Commission should look into their income and expenses.

I withdrew my membership several years ago. Hardly a week goes by without correspondence from them. I return it in their postage paid envelope with just one word on it BELAFONTE. Evidently they haven't got the message from me as I'm still getting mail from them.

He has to be something to them or they wouldn't have made a statement.

They lost me and my hubby when they supported sKerry. I don't want to put any money into the pockets of liberals like them.

And someone, who's claim to fame is the slave song ... "Hey Mr. Tallyman, tally my bananas" should be considered quotable to whom?

I thought so.

But hey, please have respect for the dead, even if they have been above ground too long. Dogs need some enjoyment also.

I kinda know the guy that started NASCON. He's very serious about offering an alternative to the liberal AARP. Here's a link to a story I found about him and the organization.

Poorly written. A Freshman entering college would be required to take "BoneHead" English. I, too, have dropped AARP.

Very well said! I hope that this "crooked" organization is investigated! I've been reading the posts on their legislative message board and can't believe both the downright socialist/communist beliefs of the posters or the number of homosexuals posting there.

Just click this link and enter as a guest and read a few of the topics and responses!

We dropped ours a long time ago and so did several of our friends. They are NOT the do all and be all. NOBODY speaks for me. I speak for MYSELF. That goes for AARP or those ridiculous feminists out there too.

***What is completely unacceptable is the fact the AARP people have known for at least the past 30 years that Harry Belafonte is a zealous communist activist, and YET the AARP lauded Belafonte. Last analysis still holds that among socio-political ideologies most adverse and antithetical to America's governance precepts is COMMUNISM!
AARP is an acronym for what obscenities we are not permitted to write in the FR. (This is the week to express my great antipathy for communist Harry Belafonte even though he is seriously demented by long term communist brainwashing controls.)

Unfortunately, that returned envelope is opened by
some clerk and the person or people who should see it
never do.

But being a former postmaster, I know that at least AARP pays a premium price to collect these postage paid envelopes and I paid nothing. LOL
