That's because in my messed up example, ALL the words were italics. That's how I messed up. I wish we could edit these posts. Look at the next post I made, and it should be clear.

Another example:

italicized words words not in italics

italicized words  words not in italics

Admittedly, in some fonts, the effect is not as bad. Clearly, the problem isn't showing up here as badly as I've seen some text elsewhere. I've seen some text that was much harder to read than my "bad" examples are in the font that FR uses. The problem varies with the use of different letters, also. A word ending in "m" looks worse -- team members. Arghh. For some reason, the problem isn't as severe in the font used here, but if you visit any sites with academic or scholarly articles, where scientific terms are italicized, you may notice what I'm talking about. It's a good thing to do anyway. I guess there's a tag that would allow me to present the HTML code here, but I don't know what it is. Here's a picture of it:

The best cartoons Gary Larson ever did (in my opinion :-) were the two of the dog and the cat. They were the "what we say" and "what they hear" cartoons where the owner was scolding the animals. In the dog bubble (what they hear) were the words, "Blah blah blah GINGER.... blah blah blah blah GINGER blah blah blah.." In the similar cartoon for the cat (what they hear) was an empty bubble. :-)

I found these cartoons on greeting cards and framed them. We've moved several times and I'm sure they're still in a box around here.

I yell at the dogs and all they do is go through all the tricks I have taught them. I think it's an animal conspiracy. They know darn well what I am saying!

From the corner of my eye as I was leaving for work this morning I could almost swear I saw the cat flash a gang sign to the dog. lol

While I was growing up, we had a dog who could spell..... well sort of. The dog would get really excited when ever she heard the word, "Ride!" or "Car!" so we took to spelling them.... Pretty soon, she caught onto that too! (Cockapoo mix, by the way.)

Okay, it still looks odd with the extra space, but you're probably right...it may depend on the font used.

To make the code appear you can use the chart on this thread post #4:

This is what happens when you:

1. have nothing to do

2. own a sharp knife

3. have a large lime

4. own a patient cat

5. drink to much tequila during football season

That's funny! Cats sure do some mysterious things some times. Don't you wonder if they're just messing with our heads?

My cat is an old girl. She's going to be 13 years old this spring. For an Alaskan cat who does go outside, it's amazing she's survived this long. Many don't. We lost one of our cats a few years ago, and we think the culprit was either the linx or the fox that hangs around here.

Thank you for the tip, Tech Ed. Photobucket was the one I had heard of before, but couldn't remember the name. I like the price too (no cost). :)

My cousin, who is a multiple launch rocket specialist, served in his secondary MOS as combat medic in Iraq. Home safe now! Thank God!

He's the "I'm just doing a job" type, though.

This Is My Chair!

My Humans have so many different places
Within this house's rooms and spaces
To sit or stretch out and relax, or be alone

Yet, when I wish to curl up and contemplate
Human foibles and the whims of fate
I like to do it out of mind and out of sight

I can hear the Pretty One on the phone
Chatting away as I silently roam
Up the stairs and over carpeted halls

To the small and cozy room where the Little One sleeps
Where I find my special aerie empty and silently leap
To shape and press my fur against a pillow plush and deep

With a seat worn smooth as the finest satin
The scents of oiled oak and leather send my whisker battin'
As I watch the Little One's fists curl up into tiny balls

It's only fair that my Humans should know
That I staked this chair out years ago
The first chair I leapt up to with azure eyes aglow

First in one room, then another, and all the rest
I like this chair right here the best
And if you try to separate us, there will surely be a fight!
