al-Qaida Leader Not at Site of Airstrike
AP News (via Yahoo!) ^ | January 14, 2006 | Riaz Kahn

Posted on 01/14/2006 3:21:21 AM PST by snarks_when_bored

Al-Qaida's second-in-command was not at the site of a U.S. airstrike on a Pakistan village near the Afghan border that killed at least 17 people, two senior Pakistani officials said Saturday.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said that Pakistan's own investigation concluded that Ayman al-Zawahri was not in the village of Damadola.

"Their information was wrong, and our investigations conclude that they acted on a false information," said a senior intelligence official who has direct knowledge of the investigations launched by Pakistan to look into the attacks.

Separately, a senior government official told AP that al-Zawahri was not present at the homes which were attacked.

"He was not there, and this is what we know after a detailed probe" into the incident, he said.

Pakistan's government was expected to formally issue its reaction on the attack later Saturday.

Thats too bad. But the message that we are on his butt is reinforced, again. The significance here is that we bombed inside Pakistan. "You can run but you can't hide."

Wow....they sure are fast with the detailed probe results. I will await to hear the results from our own trusted sources before I will believe the Pakistanis.

I agree. About 18 months ago the Pakistanis were claiming that they had killed #2. I can think of several reasons why they would want to deny this, nothing good could come from them letting the US take out this Islam hero on their turf.

I'll wait for the US report. But will the US even get the truth from our allies.

Doesn't the AP seem relieved.

That was some fast sifting of body parts....most 500lbs bombs don't leave many whole pieces.

I saw a report earlier that mentioned that locals had removed the bodies of five foreigners from the rubble and hidden them. I wonder if they've been found.

Let see, Trust AP or trust ABC. Trust ABC's "Unnamed Pakistani officials" or AP's "Unnamed Pakistani officials". Trust Arab Broadcast Corp or Asso Propagana. Hmmm this is a real tough one.

Pakistan is playing both sides of the fence. I find it hilarious that they don't know where he is, but they know for a fact where he wasn't. You can't have one without the other.

When a member of the Pakistani government promises you a 'detailed probe', get very very nervous.

Oh, and clench your butt cheeks together really tight.

In my fantasy.....Dubya brings in that bastard's head in a pickle jar & plops it on the podium in front of Congress & the national television audience..... But I would be happily satisfied to hear Dubya just announce it.

Okay, here's a paragraph from a Reuters report (my underline):

While 18 villagers were killed -- eight women, five men and five children -- another five bodies were thought to have been removed after the attack and Pakistani agents were uncertain where they had been taken, said the first intelligence source, who declined to be identified.

Reading further in the Reuters report: "...One Damadola resident said three or four foreigners had come from Afghanistan for Eid.Another said he had seen bodies of at least two people who seemed to have been outsiders. "Where these bodies have gone, I don't know," he said."

Osama bin Laden, not feeling well and concerned about his mortality, goes to consult a psychic about the date of his death.

Closing her eyes and silently reaching into the realm of the future, she finds the answer. "You will die on an American holiday."

"Which one?" Osama bin Laden asks nervously.

"It doesn't matter," replied the psychic. "Whenever you die, it will be an American holiday!"

Good question. My guess is that we got some reference DNA from his family back in Egypt? We got reference DNA on OBL from his family.
