Barr to Introduce Al Gore at Bipartisan Event Speech to Address NSA Spying Scandal

Atlanta, GA (Jan. 14) – Former Congressman Bob Barr will introduce former Vice President Al Gore at a bipartisan event hosted by the Liberty Coalition and the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy. The speech will be held in the Daughters of the American Revolution's Constitution Hall (1776 D Street, NW in Washington D.C.), Monday, January 16 at 12 pm (doors open at 10:30 a.m.).

The Liberty Coalition organizes and coordinates non-partisan public policy, and partners with conservative organizations such as the American Conservative Union, Americans for Tax Reform, Citizens Against Government Waste, and Gun Owners of America. Liberty Coalition also counts among its membership various liberal organizations such as Moveon.org, the American Civil Liberties Union, and Democrats.org.

The focus of the event will highlight the growing concerns of conservative and liberal groups over domestic spying and the vanishing checks and balances necessary to preserve Americans' civil liberties.

For further information, please visit www.bobbarr.org or contact Taryn Jones at 770.836.1776.

Barr, a former Member of Congress, has served with the U.S. Department of Justice and Central Intelligence Agency. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association and works with such groups as the American Conservative Union Foundation and the ACLU on issues related to privacy and national security and also serves as the Chairman for Patriots to Restore Checks and Balances.

Dudes at the Liberty(Libertarian) coalition, how about proofreading your press releases between bong hits, first barr's appearance is "bipartisan" and then it is "nonpartisan".

Interesting - maybe Barr and/or Gore will announce they're changing party affiliation.

I'm guessing they call it "bipartisan" because Barr is there.

Bob Barr is employed by the ACLU. He sold out. I don't know when I should congratulate the people of his district for voting him out or castigate them for being dumb enough to elect him in the first place.

(Bob)Barr to Introduce Al Gore at Bipartisan Event Speech to Address NSA Spying Scandal

I used to have a lot more respect for Bob Barr before the past few weeks. I know from where Bob is coming on this, but by getting involved with Al Gore in this, I think Bob has spent way to much time 'at the bar'.

LAST CALL BOB!

NOTE TO ALL:

THERE IS NO NSA SPYING SCANDAL!!!
Clue: It's what NSA does, and has done since its inception. It's their job.

I wonder what Quinn & Rose will say about this.

They had bob barr on their show after he joined the ACLU. And Rose was still panting like a Beatlemanic.

He was re-districted, so he moved to Linder's district and ran against him.
He lost.

Thanks, that's what I thought.
Watched him on TV a couple of times during the Clinton fiascos. He should have stayed in the CIA.........

domestic spying and the vanishing checks and balances Both are completely mythical statements dreamed up by political hysterics trying desperately to escape their complete political irrelevance. Neither the checks and balances vanishing, nor the domestic spying, have or are happened. Just another example of the usual collection of tin foil hat waring rabid political bigots trying to justify their intellectual inflexibility and sanctimonious ideological posturing as "principals". This crowd would not recognize a political principal if you tattooed on the back of their hands. Have fun spending the rest of your life on the fridges loser. The American people have no intrest in listing to your 9-10 mindset in a post 9-11 world. Grow up you sill twits before your rabid stupity gets MORE American Civilians killed.

I hear you!

Quinn has been ignoring Barr's "change" over the past weeks and months. I think he is totally grossed out about Barr.

And as far as Rose goes, I wish she would disappear from the show completely. She's a nice ebnough person in real life, but the show is 100% better when she is not there (Tuesdays and Thursdays). She cannot read script, she's constantly looking for reinforcement, and she's not real smart. Her preening and insecurity is painful to hear every day she's there.

C.G, what do you say?

;-)

He certainly sold out. I wonder if he is bitter because he somehow holds the Pubbies responsible for the loss of his seat.

His actions seem somehow vindictive.

DICK ARMEY???? Are you sure?

The last I heard, Armey is heading up a non-partisan group (forgotten the name) that focuses on changing the Social Security rules to encourage owner directed investments. It has nothing to do with the ACLU, not that he couldn't be doing both.

Comparisons are odious..... in other words, your silly analogy is nearly meaningless and casts no light on much of anything.

No, don't bother to reply............... I don't want to talk about superfluous comparisons with anyone who makes them.

;-).

Have a nice weekend.

I must agree. I find it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to listen to the show when she's on. The incessant swipes at Jim, and the really adolescent commentary that passes for "analysis" is more than I can take.

You are right it is legal...take a course on intelligence oversight.

These lawyer talking heads don't know what they are talking about, the President's authorities and don't want to acknowledge that the President retains war powers authorities and is the lead for foreign intelligence.

...NO PRESDIENT has accepted the "War Powers Act" as binding; Congressional FISA legislation is comformed with for reasonableness reasons-- it does not impede national security and protects rights, but the President is not bound by Congress on that either...for those who keep whining about FISA-- the FISA court of review admitted the President's "inherent" authorities to conduct "warrantless searches;" it is done for foreign intelligence not for personal or political gain and Congress has been informed...

Do not forget Article 1 Section 9...Bush can suspend habeous corpus and throw the NYT editorial staff and journalists in jail for violating national secrets and if he can do that he can certainly use NSA for domestic surveillance tied to foreign intelligence.
