Posted on 01/17/2006 8:01:45 AM PST by Thanatos
The ACLU had announced on Tuesday, November 16, 1999 that it will create a website called "www.echelonwatch.org". This website would chronicle all uses of the Planetary Evesdropping system used by the United States to monitor Phone Calls, Cell Phones, Satellite Communications around the world. This is the "NSA Evesdropping" system that's in the news today.
The ACLU had an extensive Library of documents, archives, news articles, links to congressional testimony and was the place to go for this information. That is until now. The ACLU is deleting all this information off the website. It had chronicled all this information and is now hiding it from the public.
This is probably the reason: NSA Spying on Americans Is Illegal (12/29/2005)
On December 29, 2005, the ACLU decided to jump on the "Let's get Bush Impeached" bandwagon and published this ad in the NY Times:
Today, January 17, 2006, the ACLU Filed suit in Federal Court in two cities to "Stop" the United States from intercepting communications From international Terrorist calling their allies within the United States.
ACLU sues to stop domestic spying program
Why would the ACLU delete their extensive website on Project Echelon? The answer is simple, they are arguing that all this "Spying on American Citizens" started with the Bush Administration, they do not want evidance unearthed that proves that the Clinton Administration and every Administration has used these "Wiretaps" to protect American Citizens since the invention of the Telephone.
And no, Al Gore did not Invent the Telephone.. No matter what he says, he didn't.
I, for one, am extremely thankful to algore for inventing the 'net.
Without al's invention, there'd be no FR to factcheck his a**.
Isn't that the truth.
Plus, we'd all think WE were the crazy ones.
Where? I just clicked on your link, and Moveon.org isn't on that page.
Maybe the ACLU doesn't consider the Clinton Admin's use of the IRS against political enemies to be a civil rights violation.
Burning the midnight oil at the Ministry of Truth.
It is so complicated to be a leftist. Reality must be constantly changed to keep up with the shifting politics.
Why? Because they want to, "spy" on anybody that doesn't see it their way. They made a blunder by posting how to do it all, because it showed their hand. Spur of the moment, eagerness and all...
I mean, the ACLU would have to believe that using the IRS/Treasury department on MLK was OK to accept it was OK for Clinton to do it.
Could it be that those that are pointing the finger at Bush have something to hide? Nah, that would be irrational and irresponsible. </sardonic>
The mendacity of the ACLU and their water-carrying for the Democrat party apparently has no bounds. George Bush did not lie to the American people. Not only did Bill Clinton lie to the American people, "I did not have sex with that woman", but he also lied under oath to a court of law-purgery, a felony--where is his picture?

George Orwell was a man truly ahead of his time.
Who's the "Dufus"??
Everything the ACLU had on that website prior to the Bush Administration, including documents from 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 that the ACLU filed against the Clinton Administration are all gone.. nada.. zip.. kaput..
The timemachine links posted earlier by other freepers show those incriminating documents.. The ACLU website does not..
Where did they go?
Why did the ACLU delete them from their website?
Why the Coverup? What are they Covering up?
Why is the ACLU lying?
Waiting for Sandy's reply...
