John Kerry Has Fallen...And Keeps Getting Up

In late November, George W. Bush went on the political offensive over the state of the war in Iraq. Determined to get his groove back after weeks of being pummeled by revitalized Democrats, Bush delivered a major speech outlining his “plan for victory.” Democrats, smelling blood, carefully plotted their response. The party’s Senate leadership decided that Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island would deliver their rebuttal. As a former member of the Eighty-second Airborne who had opposed the war from the start, Reed had the perfect credentials to remind Americans about Bush’s mismanagement of the war and of the grim realities the president had refused to acknowledge in his speech. All things considered, it looked like a banner opportunity to inflict more damage on the reeling president.

There was just one problem: John Kerry.

Without checking with his party’s leaders, Kerry scheduled his own response to Bush, which was to take place at 11 A.M., precisely the time that Reed was scheduled to respond. In Senate strategy meetings, mild panic ensued. “It was ‘Oh shit, we can’t have two competing press conferences at the same time,’ ” a senior Senate aide told me recently. “Many calls were made between offices in an effort to make sure we didn’t have two competing events with two messages, because we had ours pretty well ?eshed out.” Rather than make way for Reed, though, Kerry agreed to appear with him at a joint press event. Plenty of Democrats predicted what came next: Kerry was “droney and repetitive,” the aide says, but the press nevertheless overlooked Reed and went with the story line of Kerry, yesterday’s Democrat, still taking swings at the guy who beat him. “Jack Reed did a great job, but in the end he was overshadowed by John Kerry,” said the aide.

My favorite line in an article full of good ones.

Reading this piece, you can practically see where the writer pulls his punches, trying to make it easy for the guy he obviously voted for. Sure, sure, MSM bias and all that. Even so, Kerry's unbelievable lack of self-awareness is shocking. He just DOESN'T GET IT. Like Al Gore, like Mike Dukakis, like Hillary Clinton, the man simply can't see what so many others see--that he's an unlikable person, and that's why people don't like him.

Either way, the circle of senators remained closed, and after a few more moments, John Kerry, the man who for a few hours on November 2, 2004, believed he was president of the United States, looked around awkwardly and tugged at his shirtsleeve. Even so, Kerry's unbelievable lack of self-awareness is shocking.

Kerry reminds me of a friend of mine who was one of a few males to attend a previously all girl school. Because he never lacked for female attention during his four years of college, this gentleman formed the idea that he was a stud. Then he hit the real world. Kerry got so much attention and adulation from the Left after he turned from "hero" to anti-war protestor to Senator, that it never dawned on him that he had become a "useless idiot", more of a liability than an asset.

I remember watching the election coverage that night. One Boston TV station (Ch 56 I think) mentioned the mood was getting darker and darker at Kerry HQ and they had to have an emergency meeting as staffers were getting despondent.

"tears and bitterness" as the night went on, as detailed

"supporters of Democratic nominee John Kerry openly wept and consoled each other at the Election Night celebration in Boston's Copley Square...a distraught woman confronted Democratic U.S. Rep. Harold Ford in the lobby of the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel and screamed, "Can you tell me why everybody made a mistake?" Ford responded, "Let me talk to the candidate before I make a comment. It's been a long day."

Another woman standing near Ford began to openly weep at the prospect of a Kerry loss.

When CNSNews.com asked why he had confidently predicted a Kerry victory just a few hours earlier, (Gray Skies) Davis responded, "I, like many people saw the exit polls, which saw Kerry ahead in every battleground state."


"Part of [winning the White House] is certainly not writing off the South. It's too big a part of America just to concede to the other party and expect to win," Davis said.

Another man shouted to the Republicans "This is why the rest of the world calls us ignorant Americans. You obviously don't read the newspapers or you would not believe as you do."

A woman, unhappy the Republicans were there, screamed, "someone shut up those idiots.'

Brian Henchey, one of the College Republicans marching through the crowd told CNSNews.com that he had "never seen more sad and depressed faces in my life than what I have seen here in Copley Square tonight."

The Kerry-Edwards campaign announced that the City of Boston and Mayor Tom Menino will host "Election Night Celebration with John Kerry and John Edwards" in Boston's Copley Square Tuesday evening, November 2nd.

"Boston is home, it's where we started our campaign, it's where John Edwards and I were nominated and it's where we will finish our successful campaign for the White House," said the Democratic nominee for President John Kerry, "Mayor Menino and the city of Boston hosted a world class convention this summer and we appreciate all the hard work they did in hosting our national party convention. Copley Square will be where the public can watch election returns and will be treated to performances and appearances by special guests and musical entertainers, culminating with John Kerry and John Edwards's victory speeches. Details of the full program will be released in the coming days.

For what it's worth, wouldn't we act similarly if the reverse occurred? Let's take my former state of residence, the People's Republic of Joisey (PRJ).

There you had a gubernatorial election four years ago in which a terrific conservative Republican was done in by his own party, allowing Mayor McCheese McGreevey to sashay into office and ultimately come out of the closet and resign but not before he did such an abysmal job that even the RATS hate him.

And who just got sworn in as the new Premier of the PRJ? Why another RAT, the detestable Jon Corzine, who came in and made these amazing assertions:

"This is not self-government. It is government by judicial fiat born of inaction or, sometimes more regrettably, of neglect. And most troubling, that neglect is sometimes rooted in private or political gain, at the expense of the public interest," Corzine said.

"I know the vast majority, the vast majority share my belief," he told the audience, "it is time for us to change all of that -- time for change, not because I am a new governor and not because I am so righteous, but because it is the right thing to do and the public demands it."

Mind you, this is the same state whose junior senator, the walking cadaver Frank Lautenberg, was inserted into the race he ultimately won by judicial fiat when the PRJ Supreme Court totally disregarded the existing law concerning candidate substitution and made up their own. The public that Corzine claims demands the right thing be done voted overwhelmingly for Lousenberg after this judicial fiat.

Further, the change in government, the change in governor, specifically, is not from Republican to Democrat, but from Democrat to Democrat. It is the height of absurdity that the people of the PRJ continue to send these corrupt and slimy RATS to the statehouse and Congress, and then complain how bad government is.

So we can scream at the stupidity of the PRJ voters for this latest election and ask if they've read the papers. I know I am. And won't we scream even louder in 2008 if Hellary were to be elected?

What it really comes down to, then, is not that the losing party screams because that's normal, but that this particular losing party, the RATS, screams about its losers losing. Hey RATSland, get a clue, they're losers. Barring McInsane being the nominee in 2008, whoever is the Republican nominee will be eons better than Her Heinous, so our screaming would be valid if she were to win.
