Why do I always forget the first c?
If nothing else, if you submit the home video to a "world's funniest video" contest, you'll probably win the cash prize!
LOL! I agree, I bet it would be a winner!
I came here to report what I will be shipping tomorrow and saw this question. There was a soldier in the store so I asked him which bin would work best etc.
He told me I could send the bin, but it must be taped all the way around. He also said not to tape it before taking it to the post office.
According to this soldier, who just returned from his third tour in Iraq at the end of May, I should fill out the customs form etc. but take the tape with me. He said the postal worker will check the contents and put some sort of stamp on it stating that it was inspected before it was shipped. Then I can tape it up and send it out.
The reason for this, according to him, is that containers like that are opened and inspected at the receiving end if they are not stamped here. IOW, they may be missing a lot of stuff when it gets to them. Just passing the info along, FWIW.
1 plastic bin
2 pillows
2 pillow cases
2 twin sheets
1 box poker chips
6 paks wet wipes
6 zip lock bag toiletry kits each containing:
- shaving cream
- razor
- travel toothbrush
- travel size toothpaste
- small oral rinse
- medium size bar Irish Spring soap
- small deoderant
- hand sanitizer
12 boxes Chiclets
Will you FReepmail me the address for the Stryker unit?
Duh...I forgot the 2 decks of playing cards.
Sure thing! Freepmail with APO for Apache Renegades is on its way.
Wow, what a treasure trove!
including the 2 decks of playing cards.
That is fabulous information about shipping a storage bin! How fortuitous that you had the right vet there to answer this question.
How did you know to ask him? Was he in uniform?
Yes, he was in uniform. I live in a Base town. I see soldiers everytime I leave my house. I walk right up to them and thank them for their service. ;*)
I just FReepmailed you regarding another matter.
Aw, you're everybody's favorite Fairy Godmother!! 6 pillows!!
I'm going out in a bit to find out what 110 surge protector is.
They need some of these, too.
When I find out more about cost and maybe get an email back answering how many "Some" is, then I report this evening to the ping list.
Email from Apache Renegades this morning:
Thanks Pat I have already let the guys know that the Merry Band of Patriots are supporting us again. Is there way you can send some 110 surge protectors. Thanks
Mailed August 10, 2006, to A company of 172nd Stryker at Baghdad, fourth box
Value $45.20, postage $8.10
6 RCA surge protectors, 300 joules/120 Volts
1 twin fitted bed sheet (tan)
I haven't got back answer to question about exactly how many they need, but probably could use more. Anyone who wants to get them one or some, let me know.
Just to clarify--they have 110 electricity and need ONLY surge protectors with regular American "prongs" or do they need transformers from 220 down to 110? Just want to make sure what they need so equipment isn't fried. (They can already do that with raw eggs on the concrete over there.)
bttt
I only know the Sergeant asked for "some 110 surge protectors".
I written him about what I sent (RCA surge protector 300 joules, with 120 volt specification on the back in small print with other specifications) and asking himif they would do or if they want something else.
Now I'm waiting for feedback.

Recent Emails from A company (172nd Stryker) at Baghdad:
Answering question [Subject: How Many?] about how many 110 surge protectors they could use.
1. Three are four would help out a lot. Thanks
Response to email [subject: Your Six] that I had sent 6.
2. Pat as usual you have went over and above the call of duty. Thanks
We haven't begun to send any packages to our contact at C company which just arrived at Baghdad. Anyone who wants the APO to send them a package and maybe put in a surge protector or two for them, let me know. They would probably also really appreciate pillows if anyone in the cheaper East Coast zip codes could manage to squeeze one or two into a box.
Cheers!
Patty
OOOOH, great! THANKS for starting the care packages for Charlie Company of 172nd Stryker at Baghdad!
