WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - The inmate who strangled child-molesting priest John Geoghan behind bars testified Monday that he resolved to kill the clergyman after Geoghan arrogantly brushed off criticism that he had "destroyed all kinds of lives."
Joseph Druce took the stand for a second day at his trial for killing Geoghan, who was serving time for groping a 10-year-old boy and had been accused of molesting 150 other children.
Druce, 40, said that in the weeks before the slaying, he twice confronted Geoghan about molesting children. Instead of denying the accusations, Geoghan was "arrogant" and said he was worth far more than the millions the Boston Archdiocese had paid to settle lawsuits against him, Druce testified.
"I was just, like, 'That's it. That's it. I've got to stop this,'" Druce said. "I couldn't get it out of my head."
After Geoghan was dead, Druce said, he felt relief: "It had been done. It was over ... I had peace of mind."
Druce, who is already serving a life sentence for another killing, is using an insanity defense, arguing that his own molestation as a child and years in prison had filled him with rage.

Goeghan angered a lot of people. He doesn't anger people any more. Problem solved.

This is so pathetic on so many levels... it leaves one speechless. Its between him and God now.
Well, we've got the word of a murderer that he said it.

If he didn't put the stiff in the trash can, it was littering.
If convicted Druce should be sentenced to perform community service, which he has completed.
Same thing with Jeffery Dahmer. A righteous inmate with access to a set of barbells took justice into his own hands and caved poor Jeffery's head in and sent him to the great beyond. Wisconsin doesn't have a death penalty, but putting the dirt-bags in the general population sometimes has its own rewards.
Littering? now that is serious.
Geoghan may have been suicidal or maybe just stupid. But he must have had some idea that prison was not a place to act arrogant.

He had a quite smug and unrepentant expression when I had seen him on the news a few times. it does seem to fit.
Not that it matters much, since Old Mister Devil has had him bent over a fence looking into the Pitch for some time now.....
It sounds like Geoghan was both arrogant and stupid.
Rough justice is better than no justice..
The POS was arrogant enough to molest 150 kids in the house of God! What's a prison compared to that monstrous act?!
I don't condone jailhouse murders, but it's hard to imagine a less innocent victim.
Maybe it'll send a message to other men who are having thoughts of behaving the same way.
Pesticide?
Or a less guilty killer
Give him a medal, a public "thank you", a steak dinner, and a noose.
