On Wednesday, Chertoff played down the reports of border incursions by the Mexican military. He suggested many of the incursions could have been mistakes, blaming bad navigation by military personnel or attributing the incursions to criminals dressed in military garb.

Either Chertoff is an incompetent moron or he is a liar. Any speculation?

The liberals and libertarians would have been outraged if any on the marijuana smugglers had suffered any harm.

It is getting really frustrating that the Presdient ignores this issue.

I lived in Alpine for several years and worked on a drug task force and it gets harry along remote stretches of the river. We would just sit there and watch at times from hilltops and wait until the load moved away from the river and stop it.

I felt bad for my comrades in the BP since they were down there all the time and for the most part in 1 or 2 man units only tied to back-up via radio that in those cayon isn't exactyl reliable.

50 miles from Ft. Bliss, Texas? Time to deploy the 3dACR?

Good grief! Isn't it time yet to deploy an Armored Cavalry Regiment?

Everybody knows that the best grass comes from inside the borders of the US!!! It does not seem right that this is going on under GW's "unknowing" eyes.

"We're sitting ducks," said a border agent speaking on condition of anonymity. "The government has our hands tied."

I think one reason our politicians are not listening to us on open borders is that they realize America as we have known it is already dead and gone. They are all waiting for 2010 when America becomes one nation with Canada and Mexico.

Our votes won't mean anything then, and that is exactly how the Republican party wants it. One reason the Bush family and the Clintons are good friends is that they are on the same page when it comes to destroying the sovereignty of America through open borders. The politicians who are on top then, will stay on top becoming dictators for life.

So this great nation that has been free for over 200 years will descend into a politically corrupt hell of tyranny, never to rise again.

"Doyal said deputies captured one vehicle in the incident, a Cadillac Escalade reportedly stolen from El Paso, and found 1,477 pounds of marijuana inside."

How do you get 1,500 pounds of pot in a Cadillac? Then again, when I was in high school, we'd get 8 kids in VW bug.

"When you're up against mounted machine guns, what can you do? Who wants to pull the trigger first? Certainly not us."

Uh, call in close air support?

I hear they've decommissioned most of the old Cobra gunships... Maybe the mothballs could be knocked out of several dozen of them?

Chief Deputy Mike Doyal, of the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department: "It's been so bred into everyone not to start an international incident with Mexico that it's been going on for years. When you're up against mounted machine guns, what can you do? Who wants to pull the trigger first? Certainly not us."

Wuss.

We're paying the Mexicans $60 million a year in aid to combat drug smuggling. We supply them with military hardware and they turn around and use it to smuggle drugs into the U.S. What does it take to get the attention of the government? They know what's going on and obviously agree with it. The White House is actively aiding a foriegn power to repeatedly invade our country and then issuing press release saying everything is ok, go back to sleep.

The MSM spin on this is; "men dressed as Mexican Army" or "men in Mexican Army uniforms"

I can't believe this BS! The United States has been invaded by the army of a foreign nation, not the first time either, and the press is covering it up? Crikey, I thought these guys wanted to sell newspapers! Where is William Randolph Hearst when you need him.

The 'Pubbies need to deal with this, or authorize the border states to deal with this, or its President Hillary! in 2008.
Not that they seem to mind the idea.
