Next time you read about 'what women want,' check the research -- it's likely to be flimsy

Maybe I am missing something, but from http://www.nwtf.org/jakes/turkey.html How Well Do You Know Your Wild Turkey?

Yeah, wild turkeys can fly. Farm raised birds raised for eating can't, or not very well. Eatin' birds are bred for freakishly enlarged breasts, not for aerodynamics.

Judging from the covers of women's magazines, women want:

1. To eat lots of yummy, rich desserts.

2. Be really skinny anyway.

Geez, there is a whole herd of you guys on FR right now. I swear, someone needs to do a study on the small but hardy band of FReeper men who have such difficulties with women. There is a story there. I know it.

Ah, the truth comes out. Is it me HM, or does there seem to be a growing cadre of FReeper men who are self-confessed losers when it comes to the opposite sex. I've never seen so many guys who couldn't make time with women assembled in one place.

My apologies on messing up your name in my earlier post. Now drop that Senator and give me twenty. ;-)

Thanks, Naj. Your kind words are very much appreciated. (I'm glad to learn that I'm on the right track.)

I showed the posts to my wife. I had to ask her if she thinks I'm a great man. After a laugh (which I found disconcerting), she said yes. (Not emphatically, mind you.)

One thing I love about FR and posting on the internet is that, in anonymity, it gives us an opportunity to decide exactly what it is that we think. Sometimes it comes as a surprise to learn what I do think. Is it the same way with you?

Having children had a similar effect. Since I wanted to be truthful with them--and to give them the benefit of the best I could do--much of what I taught them came as a surprise to me too!

Come to think of it, this is one good reason for honesty in general discourse.

"Wasn't there a line something along the lines of "but I thought Turkeys could fly..."?

That line was:
"As God is my witness, I thought Turkeys could fly!"

Absolutely pee yer pants funny!!!!

This is why I almost NEVER reply to threads like this. And why I will be SURE not to in the future.

You just described the psycho ex-girfriend. She got married early 'cuz she got knocked up, got divorced (reason was he got boring), then she married a psycho who actively sabotaged her career. Second divorce. I dated her after that, when she eventually flipped out and called me a prominent member of Aryan Nation (similar name, except that dude is in a Federal prison). Thanks to that witch, I refuse to even consider dating - I will not accept the risk of another false accusation out of the blue.

What do women want? They have no idea.

Or put more simply - everything!

They usually stick to the groupthink-oriented divorce threads and the "Friday/Saturday Night Singles and Dungeons and Dragons" threads, but a few of them venture out into FR's real world occasionally. ;)
