From The AP via Yahoo! News

That's 60 Votes for Cloture.
FOX poll just out says ALMOST 50% of Americans want Alito confirmed... that's gone down a bit.
I wrote 'Flibuster' instead of 'Filibuster'?
Either way, Kerry is an idiot.
Ohhh, I can hear the ravaged cries of the DUmmies now. They are banking on a secret fillibuster at the 11th hour.
Let's save the nuke option for a Stevens or Ginsburg replacement (JRB, anyone?? That would be sweet ...)
so they abstain and swing the vote to the Dims : 49 no /46 yes / 4 abstain ? (or something like that?_
Don't be fooled. The dems know that if they fillibuster, they will lose that tool for lower court nominations. Moreover, fillibustering such a high profile nominee would be the wrong move. Still, The kook ba$e demands a fillibuster. Thus, there would be absolute HELL for the dems to pay if there were enough votes to maintain the buster, but it was not done.
So, certain dems (preferably one's that the kook base will vote for no matter what) are standing up and saying no to fillibustering. Cover is provided, the kooks are less angry (marginally) and the lower court nominees remain screwed.
It's overkill to delegitimize the practice of judicial filibusters? Think about the future for a second. Allowing a filibuster of a supreme court nominee and legitimizing it with a cloture vote would set a precedent and basically nullify the entire nuclear option entirely!!!
Just don't let Biden speak. Saying hello to Joe takes 2 hours.
Kerry is planning a "faux-libuster" to satisfy his moonbat base. They will totally fall for it.
how many lower court appointments are held up? it may take another gang of 14 deal to get some of them through.
If there's cloture, there IS NO filibuster.
You can't nuke vapors.
51 GOP votes for Alito.
3 Dem votes for Alito.
That's 54 Votes for confirmation so far.
4 GOP Senators who will all likely vote for Cloture but all may not vote for confirmation.
2 Dem Senators who will vote for Cloture.
Quote: "so they abstain and swing the vote to the Dims : 49 no /46 yes / 4 abstain ? (or something like that?"
There are 55 Republicans, 44 dems and 1 dumbass. Thus it would be 51 yes, 45 no, 4 idiots. But, some dems have agreed to vote for Alito. Ergo the yes votes (counting the abstensions) are 53, I think.
54 Yes votes so far.
51 GOP + Nelson(Nebraska), Johnson(Don't Daschle Me), Byrd(KKK/I soiled myself) = 54 Votes
A yes vote for Alito doesn't transfer into a yes vote on cloture, imo. Some like Byrd have great reverance for the tradition and the tradition is that one can speak as much as he/she wants..... On the other hand, I think he may have voted for cloture on another nominee in the past but not sure.
Did you see that Kavanaugh was renominated yesterday? Also, Michael Chagares was nominated for a seat on the 3rd Circuit.
Are Collins, Snowe, and Chaffee committed to cut off debate?
The Dems are not going to filibuster officially, but they are not going to vote until forced. They are starting a "soft filibuster" which is a stall.
